We have made the decision to step away from X (formerly Twitter). Our decision has been carefully considered and reflects our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our audience. Thank you for engaging with us on this platform. More details below.
Heading home after an interesting two days at the Canmore Trust interdisciplinary conf on suicide prevention. So helpful to explore with colleagues from other healthcare profs how we can be compassionate regulators. We’ve been at this a while, but still have much to learn!

It was great to chat to new Minister @SteveReedMP about the urgent need for a new Veterinary Surgeons Act, to better serve animals, the public & the veterinary professions. Look forward to working with @DefraGovUK @BritishVets @theRCVS to make it happen lifehaschanged.vet/
Thank you to the 200 representatives from the environment, animal welfare, water, food and rural sectors who joined us yesterday as @SteveReedMP set out our plans.
Together we can nurture our countryside, restore nature, and build our rural economies.
We @theRCVS were pleased to support this letter and the Climate and Nature Bill.
📣 Today, 100 Zero Hour champions, supported by 160 MPs, 225 scientists, 365 councils—and 52,000 #CANBill campaigners—delivered an urgent message to @Keir_Starmer: “Prime Minister, please, back the science. Back the Climate & Nature Bill. Let’s secure a liveable future—together.”
This looks like a really brilliant resource. Well done @mentalhealth So important to represent mental health appropriately. The images stay when the words are forgotten. @vetmindmatters

Outside my comfort zone at AI-UK / the Alan Turing Institute. ‘AI’ in the vet world usually means something else, but I need to get up to speed on this version, as @theRCVS regulation needs to strike the right balance of safeguarding animal health & welfare, & enabling innovation

Still plenty of time to nominate someone for our RCVS Compassion Award! Or any of our other Honours and Awards. Go on, show someone that you appreciate all the great stuff they do...❤️
Do you know a veterinary nurse or veterinary surgeon who has demonstrated compassion towards fellow professionals and/or members of the animal owning public?
Give them the recognition they deserve and nominate them for our RCVS Compassion Award: ow.ly/WBoB50Q1yXU
