📣Today in "why are librarians & archivists important": we had an enquiry about a book that I couldn't find anywhere (not just in the Library, but even *existing* 🤨). So I asked the enquirer where their reference came from. They'd used #ChatGPT to ask about an 18thC ancestor...

Next week we are running a webinar on the history of Women in Print. 98 people have booked to attend, of which 96 are female. Why? Are men not interested in the contribution women have made to trade? Are 21-century male historians as blinkered as their predecesors? I'm baffled.

One of my biggest issues with academia is that the reward for being incompetent at service is less service, and the reward for being good at service is more service, which can lead to unequal (+ very often gendered) service distributions. Any tips for dealing with this?!

I know Yoshi has a voice now but I'll never think of him like that. To me he'll always make that weird sound that can't be made by a human

My baby's cancer may have returned and my insurance, @Cigna, is refusing to help cover a PET scan so we can find out if it has, and if needed, continue our work to save his life. No qualms about putting my child's life on the line for their bottom line. He is not even 2 years old
Same people claiming they would have marched with Dr. King have shelves full of this man's books.
