It was a privilege to meet today in Vienna 🇦🇹 with H.E. Ambassador Dmitry Polyanskiy, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation 🇷🇺 to the OSCE. Drawing on the long tradition of working alongside Russian colleagues & interlocutors across the United Nations 🇺🇳 system, I briefed the Ambassador on the work of Global Neighbours — our convening formats, our Europe–Asia initiatives, including Tracks to the Future, and our efforts to create bridges for dialogue through Track 1.5 and Track 2 diplomacy. We also exchanged views on the evolving international system and the enduring importance of institutions such as the OSCE and the United Nations 🇺🇳 as spaces where countries with profoundly different perspectives can continue to meet, listen and engage. At a time of deepening fragmentation and geopolitical uncertainty, the value of patient, honest and discreet dialogue has rarely been greater. Geography cannot be changed — but understanding can be deepened. And where understanding grows, the possibilities for cooperation grow with it. Global Neighbours remains committed to building the spaces where meaningful dialogue can take place — across borders, across regions and across differences.
