Uganda turns 64 today.
Young people are already leading the way, asking questions, speaking up and shaping the future. But true independence also means being able to access accurate #SRHR information and youth-friendly health services without fear of judgment.
As we celebrate, may we continue building a Uganda where young people’s rights are protected, their voices shape decisions, and every young person has the opportunity to thrive.
Happy Independence Day, Uganda!

“As Tooro Kingdom, we commit to working with RHU to improve young people’s access to sexual and reproductive health information and services.
We are developing guidelines to promote harmonious communities and address gender-based violence. To achieve lasting results, we must involve young people in every programme and empower them to carry these messages to their peers.
Parents must also fulfil their responsibility to guide and support their children. No child should have to navigate parenthood before reaching adulthood.”
— Harriet Nyakake Abwooli, Deputy Prime Minister-Tooro Kingdom

“Young people need health workers who listen without judgement and provide friendly, respectful services. Parents and community spaces such as Ekyoto can help create room for open conversations about sexual and reproductive health and rights.
We must also engage men and community resource persons in addressing teenage pregnancy. RHU cannot do this alone; it requires all stakeholders working together.”
— Annet Kyarimpa, Director of Programmes, RHU

“Behind every teenage pregnancy statistic is a young person whose health, education and future are at stake.
Health Happens Here is our shared commitment to ensure young people can access accurate information, respectful care and quality services when and where they need them and have a meaningful voice in shaping that support.” -Jackson Chekweko, Executive Director, RHU
