The Oilers Entertainment Group are likely going to learn an expensive lesson. They tried to push ticket prices to extract the maximum value people would be willing to pay. Not an unreasonable idea in a simplistic market situation. Why let scalpers capture the scarcity profit? /1

The OEG will have to drop prices to woo folks back, and with the scarcity premium gone, that’s going to require a big drop. They could have maintained a higher price for a long time, but will have to deal with a new lower price equilibrium. Bad for OEG, but good for fans! /end

I'll add that I have no critique of the OEG seeking to maximize return. They are a private business and free to do so. It just seems to me as an outsider that they misread their market and didn't understand the pricing risk they were facing. It's an interesting business case.

I think these two need to get together for a marketing campaign.

The Dems should just run his speeches as campaign ads.
TRUMP on HIGH GAS PRICES: We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.

Inclusionary zoning cuts housing construction by as much as a third, argues a PRI commentary citing a July UC Irvine study. Builders must set aside homes or pay a fee, which raises project costs and makes fewer projects pencil out.

Having the separation question on the referendum almost certainly hurt the Premier a lot with the other 9 questions. I feel like a lot of ‘No’ voters might have just stayed home if separation was not on the ballot.
All of the constitutional questions on Monday's Alberta referendum have now flipped to No. Most resounding is provincial say on judicial appointments, closest is abolishing the Senate.

Smith knows she won’t satisfy the radical separatist wing of the party, but I’m thinking she hopes that the other UCP party members get tired of them and turn fully against them thus allowing her to avoid being ousted in the next leadership review.
'Alberta will never be independent' as long as Smith is UCP leader: Alberta separatist leader Rath 🔗ctvnews.ca/edmonton/article/…

Nearly 3 hours after we were supposed to have results, I’m wondering if any of those who voted to separate are questioning the ability of the Alberta government to run a simple thing like an election.

Branko has written some well researched stuff, but there comes a time that one beclowns themself that they can no longer be taken seriously. He really thinks countries should just be sacrificed for Putin’s dreams of empire.
It is a strange world. Because 5.7 million people live in three small Baltic countries (whose total size is less than a Chinese Tier II city). and whose half of the population lives in Europe, and another third are Russians who cannot get citizenship, and because they have traumas and bad memories of the Soviet rule, the entire world of 8 billion people should go into a nuclear apocalypse and die.

Edmonton drivers - just a friendly reminder that when traffic lights are out at an intersection, it crimes a four way stop. Also, it’s astonishing how many of you are idiots who don’t know this and just fly through intersections at full speed.

“we will pay any price….to assure the success and survival of liberty.” Is this still true? Do we prize liberty or do we prize power and purse? No more clear test than the choice between Ukraine and Russia. Abandon Ukraine and we abandon liberty. Eventually even our own.
