Canada's longest-serving prime minister (1921-30+'35-48) & Rockefeller employee William Mackenzie King near retirement: “it was the secret aim of every American leader, including Franklin Roosevelt, to dominate Canada & ultimately to possess the country” (*Perras 2021*pp. 44-45)

Despite strength in several areas of the US economy, rising household debt-servicing burdens alongside falling home prices are concerning. I wouldn't call it the straw that breaks the camel's back, but it's a trend worth watching closely in the coming quarters. Next Post Links:

I just finished Hudson's Killing the Host, after reading Mises' Human Action, Hayek's The Road to Serfdom, and Rothbard's Man, Economy, and State last year. Hudson's book is better than all three combined. Austrian economics is a thousand-page handjob for landlords.

The fact that Haiti ABSTAINED from today's vote calling for an end to the US embargo on Cuba is an absolute outrage and disgrace. It speaks volumes about the servile, slavish nature of de facto Prime Minister @citoyendidier's regime. No better than Abinader's Dominican Republic.

Despite Maddow making her name breathlessly covering Trump's connections to Russia, the MSNOW host has been silent on the Trump clan's sprawling––and far more numerous and overt––ties to Israeli influence operations. I wrote about Maddow's conspicuous refusal to cover IsraelGate.

One of the dumbest things we are asked to believe about Iran is that it keeps taking time away from defending itself against US-Israeli aggressions to orchestrate random acts of arson and vandalism in mid-power western states for no discernible benefit to its strategic interests.
Today CBC published an article with the headline: “Why a spate of gun-for-hire shootings in Toronto were likely paid for by Iran.” I was intrigued, as there has been almost 0 evidence offered for this claim thus far. Unfortunately this article doesn’t offer any either, adding nothing new. CBC says they spent weeks on the investigation, so these are pretty pitiful results, at least in terms of finding evidence of who paid for the shootings. I’m not sure why they feel comfortable with such a declarative headline given the lack of evidence (other than journalistic standards going out the window when the subject is an Official Enemy country). Also, CBC and other journalists continue platforming police claims that they need backdoor access to messaging apps to solve these shootings, with no push back or critique about how these powers can be abused, including against journalists. cbc.ca/news/investigates/ira…

This story, which revealed major inaccuracies in reporting by The Times, is worth re-upping now that - just as a fourth investigation has found no evidence of plagiarism or data fabrication (bylinetimes.com/2026/10/21/j…) - the British Journalism Awards has nominated Times Higher Education for its plagiarism story on Arday's PhD. This was described as a major public interest story, despite the fact that the PhD was cleared of plagiarism by an official investigation. Where was the intrepid Times Higher Education when it came to reporting on Dr William O’Reilly, Associate Prof in Early Modern History at Cambridge - where a complaint of plagiarism was formally upheld? His related journal article was *retracted* (not "corrected" and upheld as happened three times with Arday and falsely portrayed by The Times). Pin drop silence for Dr O'Reilly's plagiarism (and he went on to be investigated again for further plagiarism). No interest from Times Higher Education in prying open the lid to see what it means when a senior white Cambridge don is exonerated by his university. In his case, the university finding is taken as done. For Arday, when Liverpool John Moores University concluded there was genuine error, but not plagiarism, it was rejected outright as a stitch-up with no evidence. Now, you won't read anywhere in the rest of the press the fact that every formal investigation into Arday's work has made no finding of plagiarism. Whether or not there remains a case to answer, and in my view there was one, the refusal to even acknowledge the findings of the formal inquiries and report them properly demonstrates what is happening. A venal set of institutions protecting their own and refusing accountability.

RFKs racist rant against Arabs was despicable. It was personally offensive since Alex Azar and myself —both Arab Americans —were his predecessors. I am proud of my Arab heritage. He is a bigot and a racist.

#OtD 28 Oct 1916 conscription to the army in Australia during World War I was narrowly defeated 51% to 49% in a referendum. Labor PM Billy Hughes blamed the @IWW union for this, and responded by banning the group and jailing members. More in our podcast: workingclasshistory.com/podc…

Germany's century of genocide didn't begin in Namibia but in the Boxer Rebellion where they were the most brutal western army that burned villages, slaughtered civilians, and plundered Beijing. And today, they are the second-largest military supplier of Israel.

How can you expect an 80-year-old man suffering from dementia to remember what wars he started 8 months ago?
President Trump: “We didn’t start the war with Iran. Iran started the war with us.” The claim is incorrect. Israel launched a war against Iran in June 2025, with the U.S. joining the attacks. The U.S. and Israel launched another war in February 2026, and Washington resumed strikes in July.

An SAS soldier who was first on the scene after civil rights veteran and former MP Bernadette McAliskey was shot by loyalists more than 45 years ago has said he believes the ‘republican cause was just’. Read more: tinyurl.com/yu43kdh9
