Who gets to decide on how resources are spent? How can donors increase sustainability? Why is it that the narrative about funding focuses on projects? We'd love your thoughts! Txs to @CambridgeCSP for the opportunity to share ours.

"Currently NGOs make their case to funders to fit with donor priorities. There is a narrative about a lack of capacity at the local level. This doesn't hold donors accountable to the priorities that local NGOs have identified." - @RKantowitz on #ShiftThePower to local needs.

From a behavioural science perspective, one of the things I like best about RFF's Ten Radical Actions is the focus on unintended consequences that the system and behaviours in donor funding systems create, and its practical (and practicable) fixes for them

If you haven’t been tuning in, @CambridgeCSP’s #shiftthepower series is worth your time!
"I don't believe shifts are catalyzed overnight, even in the context of a pandemic. But there are many donors who recognize that current paradigms are very problematic. There are relatively simple ways that we can shift the system towards local needs."- @RKantowitz #ShiftThePower

🗣 RFF is thrilled to be working with our friends @GPPAC on a project funded through this year’s competition of @kpsrl_’s Knowledge Management Fund. We are leading an amazing group to design a new mechanism to sustainably fund local orgs building peace in their communities!
Excited to share our learning - 👀 this space.

♥️ “I re-learned the…steps of unshackling myself of the traditional development practitioner mode of providing (external) solutions to problems, a cold prescriptive way of looking at the world…As a “weaver”, there is understanding of the interconnectedness of everything…”

"Radical flexibility/ reducing dependency looks like using other funding tools beyond grant-making that can generate profit for orgs and communities. Local philanthropy within communities can be leveraged" -not always financial. 👏@laurenjbradford #ShiftThePower

Beyond grants! Why are we not testing other methods of generating revenue beyond grants e.g social enterprise! There are other tools that can be used to create revenue for orgs and communities. There is need to leverage local resources. @laurenjbradford #ShiftThePower
