September 3, 1973: During the Southern 500, Jim Vandiver quit the race to avoid being arrested
After skipping a divorce hearing, a warrant was placed for his arrest. His crew wrote the word "LAW" on his pit sign to tip him off. Knowing officers were in the pits waiting to get him after the race, Vandiver spun on track, jumped over the wall, and hitchhiked back to North Carolina

🚨 SOUTHERN LEBANON: HEZBOLLAH’S BORDER VILLAGES ARE BEING ERASED
This is what remains of al-Adisa in southern Lebanon, near the Israeli border across from Misgav Am.
I spoke with a very senior IDF officer operating in southern Lebanon. Here is what I learned.
Israel is making sure Hezbollah and its supporters have nowhere to return to along the border.
These villages were turned into Hezbollah forward positions. Now they are no more.
At the same time, Christian villages in the area remain intact, with the IDF coordinating with local communities and even facilitating humanitarian aid.

Preface: I'm a nobody who walked entirely away from the sport in 2023. BUT that allows me to speak the truth without repercussions.
I got to be part of the last of the 'good old days' where the manufacturers stayed in Detroit and were a partners not a principal.
The final years of crew chiefing I would sit in meetings and listen to manufacturers tell me how I should be calling the race 'or else'. Meanwhile they sit in their suite while the CC and drivers take the fall for not obeying orders.
At the beginning of my career, the talented people worked for the teams. The kids who couldn't get jobs with teams went to work for manufacturers.
I assume this is part of the reasons why the @colepearn of the world aren't involved either. Racing used to be an outlaw sport of pushing the grey area. Now it's Legos and get in line.
Manufactures killed it.

The fans in the stands are all Indycar fans, first truck race for everyone I talked to. They were very animated and loved two wide and beating and banging. However, we lost them w all the yellow laps at stages, they couldn’t understand why and really thought it was dumb.
