That thing, when you've got an new, upgraded phone and you realise you're getting too old for new tech. I'm there.

Cannington Viaduct on the former Lyme Regis branch. Delicate, spindly and concrete. One arch settled during construction and had to be reinforced with additional brick arch infill. Opened c1900 and closed in 1965. Once the haunt of superannuated Adams "radial" tanks. 05/11/26.

Very late to the party with this, largely because I've tried (and failed) to add a couple of lines that are no longer through routes.

The poppy is a quiet symbol of remembrance. It is NOT a pay & display item to prove you’re more patriotic than others, a photo opportunity or a competition. Wear it quietly, or not all but please do donate, that’s the important part, not this performative, opportunistic wankery.

Absolutely sick of controlling, misogynistic, pathetic man-babies. You are not real men.

Some displacement activity, whilst my wife attended a meeting to discuss retirement through ill health.

88年のThe Fallの勇姿。90年頃友人から借りたブートのビデオにこの映像があった。まずギターのBrix Smithに目が行ってしまう。カッコ良い。このバンドの音源はあれば買う。全部良い。どれがどれだかわからん😅 The Fall/New Big Prinz

This came on the radio at work on Monday morning and my brain said "this is The Smiths", but simultaneously "I don't know this song". Didn't compute... Bloody hell Johnny, what a song! youtu.be/qXDd9SLyIi0?si=sC7I…

Playing around with AI. Couldn't resist, although it won't mean much to anyone under about 40.

I have never understood how taking away the right to pay in installments is an effective way of recovering a debt. Yet, it is the very first thing threatened when Council Tax is in arrears. Suboptimal and counterproductive. – at Waddesdon, England
No! Council tax debt going from "missing one payment" to "baliffs to collect a years payment" within six weeks is a destructive nightmare that we would never allow any commercial company to do. If people can't pay a month they can't pay a year. Instead signposting to debt and financial help, giving breathing space, and time to repay, can result in more being paid back. Plus less catastrophic impact on someones finances can mean they need less state help in future.

Meanwhile on Normal Island, a petition to defund the RNLI is gaining momentum, but there’s just one teeny, tiny little problem - the RNLI is funded through charitable donations. This basically means that there’s nothing to actually f*****g defund you absolute weapons-grade, 63-carat c**kwombling thunderc***s. DE-DEFUND THE RNLI - rebrand.ly/imvl9mb

Predicting a particulary fraught remembrance time this year. The far-right will attempt to completely co-opt the meaning of it. Real patriots will do better. Be real patriot.

I have the gift, or superpower of looking like a far-right gammon, whilst actually being a centrist (grand)-dad. I should probably deploy this camoflage more effectively.

Passed as fit to return to work by occupational heath yesterday; which means I may actually be able to resume in the next six to eight weeks...

Do you remember when you could simultaneously support a position/organisation and also be critical of aspects of what they stood for? I miss that. When did nuance die?

This (read thread) is superlative railway management. The industry needs a lot more of this.
Replying to @Telegraph
Last week Southeastern ran 10,000 trains carrying 3 million customers. No incidents of bed bugs in passenger areas were found. 2 driver cabs (out of 800) have been treated and the furniture in a depot. You had the opportunity to reassure customers which you choose not to do.
