Thank you for sharing my interview on The Drop, its inspiration, and my #writing journey.
I was eleven years old when the world went to shit. Literally. It just started falling away, chunk by horrifying chunk @rshopson jcgemmell.com/Authors/Author… #scifibooks #scifi

Took a Twitter / X hiatus, but I'm back now and am thrilled to share that I'm finally querying my debut novel! The first two Fulls are out the door. Wish me luck! #WritingCommunity

So much of writing is thinking about writing. Of course, you have to put words on paper at some point, but don’t downplay the work your mind puts in when your fingers are at rest. #writerslife #WritingCommunity #writing

Sadness is neither weakness nor strength, but it is possessive. Jealous. I worry if I embrace it, it won’t ever let me go- and then what will become of all the things I was meant to do and feel? No, it’s easier to be mad. Anger is welcoming. Anger shares. #grief #amwriting #loss

“… You’ve been a reader much longer than you were ever a writer. Simply fix that fact in your mind, then sit very still & ask yourself, as a reader, what piece of writing in all the world [you] would most want to read…” - J.D. Salinger #WritingCommunity #writingadvice #Writers

Upon finding out that I’d written over a million words between all my books, my sister’s immediate reaction was to ask if head was any emptier now. My response? No emptier than the day I was born. Take that whatever way you’d like. 😂 #WritingCommunity #AmWriting

Tried to follow one new fellow #author I met today, but I guess I’ve reached my follow limit? @Twitter must be buggin rn. For a social app, it sure has been hard to engage with people lately.. 🧐

Does your story have a made-up world? If so, I’d love to hear about it in the comments. World-building is my favorite part of writing. #awholeneworld #worldbuilding #writingcommunity
50%Yes, completely fictional
50%I took some liberties

Great question! I’ve got two pieces of advice on chapter division: one from a commercial and one from a storytelling standpoint. (1/3) 🧵 — 1/ Commercially: In his @StoryGrid podcast, Shawn Coyne discusses the concept of a “Potato Chip chapter”… #WritingCommunity #Writingadvice
#WritingCommunity How to split a novel in to chapters? *noises of panicking*

… A potato chip chapter is one that’s around 2k words long and structured to leave the reader wanting more. It’s late at night, but they want to read “just one more chapter” (they tell themselves as they grab a bag of chips from the pantry); “I have to find out what’s next.”

2/ Storytelling: Chapter breaks should feel natural, so look for scene transitions, e.g MC goes to bed, so the next chapter starts when they wake up etc. Tactically, focus on ending with a cliffhanger, a question, or an extremely memorable line that’ll stick in the readers’ head.
