Outbreak wasn't trying to replace Chris, Jill, Leon or Claire. It expanded the world by showing what was happening to everyone else while the famous characters dealt with the main events. That's the perspective this movie seems to be going for. #REOutbreak #ResidentEvilOutbreak

Sometimes it can just be about some guy trying to survive Raccoon City. That's what makes the Outbreak comparison so important: Resident Evil can be about the heroes, but it can also be about the ordinary people caught in their story. #ResidentEvil #REOutbreak
And then there's Welcome to Raccoon City. That film was much more directly sourced from Resident Evil 1 and 2, using recognizable characters, locations and creatures. Yet plenty of people still disliked it. Fidelity alone doesn't guarantee a successful adaptation. #ResidentEvil
People are overlooking something: this isn't necessarily a traditional mainline Resident Evil story. It feels much closer to Resident Evil Outbreak—a side story within the Raccoon City disaster, told through ordinary people caught in the middle. #ResidentEvil #REOutbreak
Barry's infamous “Jill sandwich” line is one of the most iconic examples. It's ridiculous, but it's also part of Resident Evil's identity. Criticizing the movie for being cheesy feels strange when that tone has existed in the games from the beginning. #ResidentEvil #RE
And then there's the criticism that the movie is “corny.” Resident Evil has ALWAYS been corny. Leon S. Kennedy is practically the king of ridiculous one-liners, and the series has always mixed genuine horror with absurd dialogue and exaggerated moments. #ResidentEvil
That's why I don't mind the protagonist screaming, swearing, panicking, or struggling with guns. If I were a regular medical courier suddenly surrounded by zombies and monsters, I'm probably not calmly pulling out a handgun like Leon Kennedy. #ResidentEvil #ResidentEvilMovie #RE
That's fundamentally different from Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3. Chris and Jill are S.T.A.R.S. members. Leon is a rookie police officer. Carlos is U.B.C.S. They're capable people dealing with extraordinary situations. An Outbreak-style protagonist is an ordinary person in one.
That's why the Resident Evil Outbreak comparison makes so much sense. Those games let you experience the Raccoon City outbreak through ordinary people: a bartender, doctor, reporter, subway employee, police officer, and others simply trying to survive. #REOutbreak #ResidentEvil
The protagonist isn't Leon, Chris, or Jill. He's a regular guy who works as a medical courier, transporting organs, medical supplies, and other materials. He's a civilian, not a trained special operative or veteran cop. #ResidentEvil #ResidentEvilMovie #ResidentEvilFilm #RE
So when people criticize him for lacking survival skills or struggling with firearms, I have to ask: what exactly are “basic survival skills” for a normal medical courier? He's not preparing for the apocalypse. He's just doing his job. #ResidentEvil #ResidentEvilMovie #RE

What's wild is seeing complaints about the new Resident Evil movie's creatures. The series has never had one fixed mutation path. The T-Virus alone produced Zombies, Hunters, Lickers, Tyrants and more.

For me, the interesting question isn't "Have I seen this exact creature before?" It's whether the mutation feels consistent with Resident Evil's established biological horror. Familiar doesn't automatically mean authentic.

The games already gave us decades of iconic monsters. An adaptation can respect that history while creating something new. Unpredictable mutations fit Resident Evil's world better than forcing every creature into the same formula.

Resident Evil isn't simply "people become Zombies." It's biological horror: viruses, parasites, experimentation and B.O.W.s transforming living organisms into something unnatural. The games constantly expand that idea.
