Polling showed a national rent cap was hugely popular with exactly the working-class voters Democrats lost this week. At the DNC, there was a panel showing the data & pushing the party to take it up.
In the end, while housing costs skyrocketed, Dems offered renters nothing.

“The response at every point from my fellow Democrats has been, ‘Can this wait till after the election?’ My hope is that we’re on the verge of beating Trump, and I can’t wait to see every single person who told us to shut up about saving our families’ lives out there in the streets with us, on the phones, in front of the White House, demanding an end to these weapons.” -@AZAlawieh on @CrookedMedia

It’s terrifying that $2,000 for a 1-bedroom apartment is becoming the norm, and not just in CA. We need a southwest regional strategy in NV, AZ & CA that focuses on strong tenant protections & a huge increase in affordable housing. Thanks @RTTCAction @popdemoc for this polling!
"Concerns about housing ranked among voters’ top issues...though voters say they’ve heard little from their elected officials in terms of solutions."

This is an ongoing issue - nearly half of MI voters do not see their political leaders working to address the rising cost of housing ❌❌❌
