October 18, 1970 Dolphins fullback Larry Csonka bludgeons Bills safety Pete Richardson in Buffalo. Zonk and Coach Shula recount the NFL's first and perhaps only instance of "unnecessary roughness" by a ball carrier.

Ditka was a Baller in more than one way!
Jim Nantz says Mike Ditka used to pay and tip for everything with $100 bills, and never ask for change “I noticed early on that all he carried were $100 bills. All he did was peel off hundreds all the time. Buy a beer at the bar on the way out to dinner, ‘Yeah, give me a Budweiser.’ $100. Keep the change.” “Coat check, comes into a restaurant, comes out, $100. Man on the street, homeless, there was one guy that kind of understood the routine and he was there every week. Mike, every time, $100 bill.” “I finally got up the nerve to say, ‘Hey coach, why don’t you ever get change? Why just the hundreds?’ He says, ‘Hey, what’s the difference anyway?’” “He said, ‘You know, the way I look at it, when I die and they drop me down into the ground, I hope there’s a little opening in that coffin and my last $100 bill comes flying out and goes up into the sky and drifts away. That would make me happy.’” “So I said, ‘This gets a little pricey, doesn’t it?’ ‘It’s not that bad, Jim.’ He said, ‘Here’s the way I rationalize it in my head. We got 20 weeks. I come every single Friday to New York. I come in with 50 $100 bills, $5,000. And at the end of the season, I’m spending $100,000.’” “He would say, ‘I’ve allocated $100,000 to the football season to go enjoy myself in New York. And that’s the way it is.’ I take $5,000 in cash in hundreds every single week. And that’s what he did.”

Ambushed by 150 Taliban fighters in Kapisa Province, Afghanistan (Oct 2, 2012), 2nd Lt. Nicholas Dockery crossed 100 yards of open of open ground under heavy fire, led the fight, shielded a wounded soldier with his own body from a grenade blast, killed enemies dragging an unconscious American away, performed CPR, and was the last man off the battlefield. Every soldier in his group was wounded. All of them lived. Dockery later earned a second Silver Star with Special Forces, rose to major, and in 2026 received the Medal of Honor from President Trump—the nations highest award of valor. True American hero. 🇺🇸🔥

Mark Knopfler wrote "Sultans of Swing" after watching a bad jazz band play to an empty pub in Deptford. At the end of the night the singer announced, without irony: “Goodnight, we are the Sultans of Swing.” He plays the whole thing fingerstyle. No pick.

The sunrise is not hope. It is the bill arriving. Most people hear this song on a patio and think it is a toast. Live in Melbourne it is closer to a hangover with good manners. Glenn Frey does not sell the title. He lets the words walk in like someone who stayed too late and now has to name the morning. Tequila is the alibi. The real subject is a man who knows the night was a mistake and still reaches for the glass because the alternative is sitting with himself. That is why the live version works harder than a jukebox memory. The band is surgical — acoustic sparkle, tight harmony, Timothy B. Schmit’s bass sitting in the pocket like furniture that was always in the room. No dancer. No costume change. Country-rock as a clean table after a messy evening. The crowd already knows every turn. They did not come to be surprised. They came to hear a voice they trusted with their twenties. Melody is the trap. It is pretty enough to hide the warning. Take another shot of courage. The line smiles. The meaning does not. Frey sings it as conversation, not confession. Harmony arrives like friends who will not stop you, only sound beautiful while you continue. Live, that courtesy is almost cruel. The arrangement refuses to punish the character. The character has to punish himself, later, offstage. Lyrics belong to 1973 and do not stay there. A gunfighter album dressed a California morning in Old West dust. Underneath is a modern habit: using a ritual — drink, charm, the next warm body — to postpone a verdict. Emotion is not heartbreak as weather. It is the quiet after charm. You can hear why comments in 2026 still say the 70s. They are not only missing a decade. They are missing a kind of singing that did not beg the room. What changed after Melbourne is the frame. Frey is gone. Randy Meisner is gone. The clip is now a museum that still moves. You watch a man sing about last night while the future audience knows there will not be another last night with that exact throat. The song was always about absence arriving at dawn. The video accidentally grew a second absence. The thing that must not be lost, if anyone covers it, is the smile that knows it is lying a little. Make it only pretty and you have a brunch song. Keep the invoice in the sunrise and you still have the Eagles. When the intro starts, are you toasting the morning — or paying for the night you will not admit you already spent?

Vince Gill, singing I Will Always Love You at his concert in Kansas City. This was his way of honoring Dolly’s memory. He broke on the first line of the first chorus and it broke me. 😭😭😭 Note: This is not my footage. It was shared by a friend of mine on Facebook. It’s not her video, either, and I don’t know where she got it from, so I can’t give proper credit.
