I’ve been thinking a lot lately about James Talarico, and I have to tell you, some of the things he says about Christianity genuinely trouble me. And it’s not simply because I disagree with his politics. Talarico has studied theology in seminary and has spoken publicly about wanting to become a pastor. So when I hear him describe God as “nonbinary,” call Jesus a “radical feminist,” or make arguments supporting same-sex marriage and abortion rights through his interpretation of Scripture, I have some serious concerns. Not just politically. Biblically. What particularly bothers me is his repeated use of provocative, politically charged language when talking about God and Jesus Christ. Why? Why do we need to describe our Lord and Savior using terminology so closely associated with today’s political and cultural movements? To me, that’s a serious red flag. I believe there’s a difference between explaining what Scripture actually teaches and using Scripture to reinforce what we already believe politically. And from what I’ve heard, I believe Talarico is doing far too much of the latter. Our faith should shape our politics. Our politics should never shape our faith. And I don’t say that because I believe Christians must all vote the same way. We can disagree about healthcare, immigration, taxes, and plenty of other issues while still taking Scripture seriously. But there are biblical teachings that I believe are clear, even when they’re unpopular in today’s culture. Marriage is one of them. The sanctity of human life is another. And when someone with theological training publicly teaches interpretations that I believe contradict those biblical principles, I find that deeply troubling. Here’s what really weighs on my heart. There are people searching for God. People who may not know much about Scripture. People looking to religious teachers to help them understand who Jesus is and what following Him actually means. And I worry about what happens when those people encounter a version of Christianity that seems more concerned with affirming today’s political and cultural ideas than faithfully teaching God’s Word. Scripture warns us to take teaching seriously. James 3:1 reminds us that those who teach will be judged more strictly. I’m not questioning whether James Talarico is saved. I don’t know his heart, and that’s not my place. But I can question his teaching. And I can compare what he says with what Scripture says. I know I must guard my own heart, too. But having struggled with obedience myself, I believe there’s a world of difference between struggling to follow Scripture and changing what it means to suit our beliefs. Jesus should shape our politics, not the other way around.

Just so people fully understand what happened here: A group claiming to be "pro-Palestinian" planned a boycott rally targeting a bunch of Jewish businesses in Philadelphia. Happens to be that this boycott bike protest is happening one day before the anniversary of kristalnacht. Several of the businesses have 0 ties to Israel. They just happen to be owned by Jews. Some others have an Israeli-America co-owners. But I want to be clear that targeting someone because of their nationality is also insane and wrong. The people behind this are modern day Nazis trying to drive Jews out of public life in America. It is rather telling that so few people in the anti-Israel movement have spoken up against this.
Important given the increasing normalization of targeting Jews and Jewish businesses. Back in 1939, Nazi party supporters had a massive rally at Madison Square Garden. They had almost 20K attendees. At the same time, a coalition of decent people held a counter rally outside with 100K counter-protestors to send a clear message. This reminds me of that. Hope we see more of it.

Totally normal place for a guy who just won a Texas election this week to go: right to NYC to be a guest on a liberal comedy TV show to joke about all of his fundraising outside of Texas
omg James Talarico just made a surprise appearance on SNL, and the audience went WILD "Hi, America! I'm James Talarico, the guy who's been texting you every day asking for $5. But I think, Mr. President, if we can work together we can make life better for everyday Americans. It's clear people want something new. They want something different. I'm talking, of course, about SNL's cold opens. How many of these Trump freezes are they gonna do?!"

Dear non-Muslims, As Ramadan is just 92 days away, Please avoid eating in front of Muslims who are fasting. Please avoid drinking in their presence. Do not deliberately tempt those observing the fast. Muslims will be fasting from dawn until sunset. A little consideration and respect go a long way. ❤️🌙

The title itself evokes Sirk, though the title font is IMO too big for a Sirk film. Excellent film.
Far from Heaven (2002), starring Julianne Moore, Dennis Quaid and Dennis Haysbert, is a tribute to Douglas Sirk's 1950s melodramas. Set in 1957 Connecticut, it follows a seemingly perfect marriage unraveling under the pressures of social conformity, racial prejudice and hidden desires. Inspired by Sirk's All That Heaven Allows and Imitation of Life, as well as Max Ophüls's The Reckless Moment, director Todd Haynes meticulously coordinated colors, costumes and lighting to express emotions the characters couldn't openly reveal. His intention was simple: "I really wanted people to cry." Haynes deliberately cast Dennis Quaid against his familiar masculine screen image, describing his performance as "wound like a coil in this movie." Dennis Haysbert's audition reportedly moved the director to tears. The film also features the final original feature-film score by legendary composer Elmer Bernstein. Interestingly, he initially hesitated to watch it because of its temporary soundtrack, only to discover that the music came from To Kill a Mockingbird, which he had scored himself.

It’s the workers sharing a celebratory handshake after hanging up the Liberty Studios sign that really solidified the movie for me.
First clip from the Jimmy Stewart biopic ‘JIMMY’, starring KJ Apa. The film follows Jimmy Stewart during his journey serving in World War II and how ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ saved him after the war. Now playing in theaters.

The Weaponisation of Language One of the most effective tactics of the modern left has been the corruption of language itself. Words that once had clear meaning have been twisted beyond recognition - redefined to suit their agenda and silence dissent. They call censorship “safety.” They call propaganda “education.” They call perversion “pride.” They call cowardice “tolerance.” They call patriotism “hate.” Through manipulation of words, they’ve managed to reshape moral reality. By controlling the language, they control what people are allowed to think. Change the definition, and you change the debate. When “man” and “woman” become “identities,” when truth becomes “offensive,” and when disagreement is rebranded as “violence,” reason itself is under attack. It’s not ignorance - it’s strategy. Because when the meaning of words collapses, truth becomes whatever they say it is. And that’s exactly how control begins. Language built our civilisation. The twisting of it will destroy it - unless we start speaking plainly again. “When words lose their meaning, people lose their freedom.” - Confucius
