Iman Shumpert calls for the NBA to bring back intense two a day training camps, arguing that players need to be in better shape and more physically prepared to deal with the demands of an 82 game season.
Shumpert believes the league has become too comfortable with relaxed training camps, saying players should be pushed harder instead of treating camp like a chance to hang out. He recalls how demanding preparation used to be, with exhausting workouts, sore bodies, film sessions and a complete focus on getting ready for the season.
He also points to LeBron James as an example of a player who has consistently maintained his conditioning, arguing that staying in shape throughout the year is essential. Shumpert believes the NBA needs to make physical preparation a much bigger priority if it wants to address the growing number of injuries.

Iman Shumpert goes off on anyone calling for the NBA to shorten its 82 game season, arguing that players should focus on conditioning and changing how they play instead of reducing the number of games.
Shumpert points to legends like Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, John Stockton and Gary Payton, who played 82 game seasons, questioning why today’s players need fewer games. He believes the league should bring back more physical basketball, with players attacking the post, taking midrange shots, playing through contact and cutting down on flopping and exaggerated moves.
He also questions how much extra time players would actually gain from shortening the season, arguing that changing the way the game is played may be a better solution to the injury problem.
