Just a short time after the 9/11 attacks, I visited Ground Zero to visit my uncle COL Yaakov Goldstein, who was then chief chaplain of the NY National Guard.
I stood there looking out at the devastation and said Tehillim (Psalms) for all those who had died in the attacks of 9/11, and venerate the heroism of the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 EMT’s who lost their lives while saving the lives of others.
It was an experience I will never forget. May their memories be a blessing. #neverForget

Across America, Jews Prepare to Mark a Once-in-250-Years Shabbat
When President Trump signed a proclamation inviting Jewish Americans to observe a national Shabbat on May 15-16, Rabbi Chesky Tenenbaum of Baltimore had one immediate reaction. "It coincides with Armed Services Day," said the military chaplain. "It's a double reason for our community to come together."
From Florida to the Arizona desert, Jewish communities are marking the first time in American history that a sitting president has called for the nation to honor Shabbat — one that also happens to fall on the very Shabbat the Rebbe designated, forty years ago, as a global Shabbat of Unity.

BDE! I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Rabbi Alvin Kass, the Chief @NYPDchaplains of @NYPDnews. One of the longest serving members in NYPD history, a US Air Force veteran, and one of the first to respond after 9/11. Rabbi Kass was a true legend and a real mentch
