While the last enslaved people were technically set free in 1865, the legacy of slavery persists: it continues to affect the Black community in insidious ways, including the overrepresentation of Black people among those experiencing homelessness.

Take notes from Houston:
"The average person...assumes that an individual [experiencing homelessness/mental illness] is dangerous/needs hospitalization. Our experience is that most of these folks stabilize in housing w/ the appropriate level of services."

As you commemorate #MLKDay, please remember my mother, as well. She was the architect of the King Legacy and founder of @TheKingCenter, which she founded less than three months after Daddy was assassinated. Without #CorettaScottKing, there would be no MLK Day.

Election deniers in a Pennsylvania county convinced officials to conduct a recount of the 2020 election.
A three-day undertaking showed almost no change, with Donald Trump gaining one one-hundredth of a point. Did that quell denier doubts?
It did not. nyti.ms/3GLVek2
