What any knowledgeable person understands about undocumented immigrants in America is that “extending mercy where appropriate” should include and apply to the far majority of USimmigrants. The immigrant fear and hate of the last decade is rooted in profound lies about them.
Yes, happy to explain. I don’t think it’s wise to let your opinion of an entire immigration policy be dictated by outlier cases, tragic cases, or sad stories. I also support the second amendment even when there are tragic cases of gun violence.
I support ICE and I believe mass deportations are necessary. I believe in law and order and I believe in justice. So does Samuel Sey. I don’t fault ICE for doing its job. I also believe in helping friends when you can, and also believe that mercy is sometimes appropriate. I know Samuel—he’s a good man of integrity. He has made good faith effort to file the right paperwork and comply with the law. He didn’t deceive or purposefully break the law. He would make an excellent American citizen. I hope he can become one someday.
There are many other similar cases, I’m sure. It doesn’t change my opinion. All we can do is support justice as well as we can, and extend mercy where appropriate to the best of our ability. You might find this inconsistent, but I don’t. It’s just part of living in a messy world.

Thr conservative Christians who are still standing with Samuel Sey are doing so because they believe he is a good man, a Christian man, a family man, even a fellow conservative, certainly not a criminal.
For whatever reason they can't make the leap between their friends and the hundreds of thousands of people who are just like him. They can't see that these are also good people who made decisions about jobs, family, safety, and just didn't fill out the right paperwork.
They can't imagine that these other people are also good.
When I was in graduate school, I met a couple who stressed out at the possibility that immigration wanted to deport the wife. She came here on a student visa, fell in love and now, was trying to stay here legally with her husband. There was no crime but according to them, they were being treated with suspicion and found the whole ordeal stressful and scary.

“Stop asking bin about neul” even though every time someone does, he talks AT LENGTH about him. And he doesn’t have to. He COULD give a shorter answer and brush off questions if he wanted, but he’s always so excited and happy to talk about his literal best friend/soulmate so…

There are two sorts of Christians, those who prioritize the mercy shown by Christ and reinterpret the Old Testament accordingly and those who prioritize the wrath of God in the Old Testament and reinterpret the New Testament accordingly.
Since we are followers of Christ, it seems clear to me which is preferable. Look how the message of the Gospel becomes diluted and impotent when you do the latter.
One of the citations in *favor* of the death penalty here is John 19:10.
“Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?”
To cite this as evidence “God is pro-death penalty” is quite amazing. What a great perversion of the Gospel.
We must remember, God is Pro-death Penalty. Not because he wishes the wicked to perish, but because he delights in Justice. God's word is clear.

a few people reached out to me following this post to offer clarity, the person in question had previously made ai edits of the members. one of which imho feels very inappropriate.
tho personally I don’t think it’s ever appropriate to feed the girls photos to ai for any reason

However you feel about the migrants in custody, no Catholic should be deprived of the sacraments because of interference by the state. We’re a religion, not a meme. Jeeze.

And yet, somehow her victim has not come back from the dead, the victim's family's trauma is not healed, the country is no safer. It's kinda like the death penalty doesn't accomplish anything good.
Christa Pike has remained unconscious and on a ventilator at a hospital in the four days since her failed execution in Tennessee, and her prognosis might not be known for days more, one of her lawyers said Sunday. apnews.com/article/tennessee…

One thing that always gets lost in this debate: School starts WAY too early.
There's no law of nature requiring 5-year-olds to be in class by 7:30 a.m., which is obscene. Instead of making everyone endure 4:45 p.m. sunsets, just...send kids to school later.
No one likes changing the clock, me included, but Congress has enacted permanent Daylight Savings Time multiple times before and repealed it each time once Americans experienced absurdly late sunrises in the winter. Arkansans don’t want their kids going to school in the pitch dark, and I’ll always put Arkansas first.

A background study on most “criminals” and you realize that majority were first broken as children by their own parents until they became monsters from enduring so much pain and cruelty.
This is why we really need proper protection laws and rehabilitation centers for children.
This is Christa Pike at 18 years old when she was sentenced to death. She begged for a hug from her mother before she died. She is now 50 and will be executed tonight for the heinous murder she committed with a boyfriend 32 years ago.
Christa’s mother drank heavily and used drugs while she was pregnant with Christa resulting in brain damage which caused Christa’s bipolar disorder. Christa was born premature while her mother was drunk and spent weeks in an incubator. Her mother went back to work as a nurse.
When Christa was 14 months old, she suffered a seizure. Her mother refused to leave the bar to take her to the hospital.
After Christa was born, her mother left Christa and her brother without food, crawling in dog feces, while she drank with her boyfriends.
She sent her children away to their grandmother when one of her many husbands didn’t want them around.
Her grandmother allowed her boyfriend to orally sexually assault Christa before the child could talk until she began school. He locked her in a dark chicken coop with spiders crawling on her. When Christa’s school became concerned, her mother failed to follow up or prevent further abuse.
Christa’s father stole her dog to give to one of his girlfriends when Christa was 6.
Her mother allowed her boyfriends to beat Christa and twist her nipples. One beat Christa with a belt and sexually assaulted her. He forced her to watch pornography and look at graphic images. When Christa brought some of the images to school, they called her mother. She did nothing. When the boyfriend was arrested, her mother tried to deny it.
When Christa was raped at 11 by a man in the neighborhood, her mother denied it until she developed an infection and the man was arrested.
When Christa tried to commit suicide after that, a psychiatrist told her mother Christa was severely depressed and needed help. Her mother denied Christa further help and her bipolar disorder was not treated.
Her mother told Christa to have her 20-something year old carnival boyfriend live with them when Christa was 14. She smoked pot with Christa and her boyfriend to bond.
When Christa became pregnant by one of her mother’s lovers at 16, her mother convinced her to get an abortion telling her a healthy baby could not be born from rape.
When Christa was raped at 17, one year to the day before she committed murder with her boyfriend, Christa’s mother didn’t care.
But Christa was happy to see her mother in court during her trial and all she wanted was a hug.
When Christa tried to introduce mitigating factors post-conviction, her mother said her daughter told lies and was a problem child since she was 8.
Even then, her mother didn’t care about her child who only wanted a hug.
Yes, Christa committed an extremely heinous murder at 18 and she will be put to death.
But I just wanted to share a little bit of her story with you — especially for all of you rejoicing at her execution.

"I am glad Christa Pike is still alive. And two things can be true – I also wish her victim Colleen Slemmer was still alive. She too is a child of God. But another murder will not bring her back."
This is a solid Christian case for abolishing the death penalty, and it is an excellent read.
The death penalty is a cruel, gruesome, failed experiment. The people keeping it alive are Christians. premierchristianity.com/opin…

What Christa Pike did to her victim was horrific. What happened to Christa Pike yesterday was horrific. Both are true.

If you're against the death penalty you have to be against it for everyone. People go into outrage (rightfully) when someone clearly innocent or undeserving is about to be killed, calling for it to be outlawed. But then once it comes to actual evil criminals they fold.
The OG Rachel 🐬 retweeted
Do you want to know why I'm so vehemently opposed to the death penalty?
Beyond the moral argument that the state shouldn't participate in the premeditated murder of its citizens, it comes down to a practical truth: the justice system is not infallible, and the cost of its failure is absolute.
Over the decades, officially recognized posthumous exonerations have laid bare how racial bias, coerced confessions, and flawed evidence send innocent people to the gallows and electric chair:
- George Stinney Jr. (executed at 14; coerced confession cleared 70 years later)
- Joe Arridy (severely disabled; coerced confession, pardoned in 2011)
- Lena Baker (self-defense ignored by an all-white jury; pardoned in 2005)
- Thomas & Meeks Griffin (framed by the actual killer; cleared in 2009)
When the death penalty is carried out, "innocent until proven guilty" loses its safety net. An overturned conviction decades too late is not justice. It is an admission of irreparable harm.
We know that isn't the case with Christa Pike. Her conviction rests on undisputed evidence, eyewitnesses, and her own full admission of guilt.
But a justice system cannot pick and choose when its finality applies. If it cannot guarantee 100% accuracy across the board, the risk of executing the innocent remains absolute.
Bottom line: the state should never have the authority to participate in the premeditated murder of its citizens.
list so boy group heavy I could’ve mistaken it for kcon la line up
