This is largely excruciating nonsense. Children need calm, safe environments where the expectations are clear, scaffolded, and taught; where boundaries are upheld and consequences happen when they are breached-with support when required. Treating misbehaviour as a pathology, or children as China dolls, actually makes them less safe, more vulnerable.
Elementary school teachers, exhausted by how much class time is spent calming students down or responding to emotional outbursts? These 19 teacher-tested strategies can help young students learn how to regulate their own emotions. 😌 edut.to/3YD4QIE

It is impossible to be an advocate for students without being advocates for teachers. Take care of the ones who take care of the students.

It's often said: White kids, upon being taught the history of racism, will feel guilty or bad about being White. In fact, White kids who receive antiracist history lessons exhibit fewer racist ideas about Black people while their attitudes about White people are unaffected.

We've always had SEL in schools. It was called recess, unstructured play, Music, Arts, Physical Education, Etc. But they've been removed or reduced to spend more time on testing, & then we wonder why students lack social/emotional skills to self regulate, focus, & reduce stress.

Stories affirm our experiences. They challenge our comfort zone. They give us space to hibernate and pull us out of our isolation when we need to be reminded we aren’t alone. They help us evolve. They feed our human existence. stenhouse.com/content/gift-s…

I’m seeing some discouraging things around ChatGPT:
1.Schools blocking it
2. New apps promising to determine “cheating using ChatGPT
Can we move past surveillance and rethink what school means in an age of AI?
