Some of the legislators here in Texas are calling for this, and I think it's the right idea. Rein in the emergency powers of the governor before Gina Hinojosa takes office. You're just not going to allow her to have the additional emergency power to circumvent. @brianeharrison #TXGov Listen live weekdays 7-9 AM CT on the KSEV app: ksevradio.com/app/?utm_sourc…
🚨BREAKING: Texas State Rep. Brian Harrison is calling on Gov. Greg Abbott to immediately convene a special session and rein in executive emergency powers before Democrat Gina Hinojosa is sworn in. Harrison says Republicans still hold full control of the Texas Legislature for the next ten weeks and must use it. He warns that without action, Hinojosa will inherit powers that let a governor suspend, modify, or create laws—including criminal ones—by executive order alone. He points to his own 2022 bill, HB 911, which would bar the governor from suspending statutes, force emergency orders to expire in 30 days without legislative approval, and open them to quick court review. He argues no governor of either party should hold unchecked emergency authority. Hinojosa defeated Abbott to become the first Democratic Texas governor in more than 30 years and the state’s first Latina governor. She takes office in January. Harrison is urging every Texas Republican to demand the special session now.

What we should be comparing the 2026 Blue wave to is the 1974 mid-term election after #Watergate. That year Republicans lost 48 US house seats, 5 US Senate Seats, and statehouse after statehouse. This mid-term loss is bigger and growing for Republicans with 54 House Seats lost plus 7 Senate seats; however, the parallels between what was happening in the US are substantial. I watched the Watergate hearings, and it was quite the media show at the time on @NBCNews, @CBSNews, @ABC, @PBS with Chair Sam Ervin, Howard Baker, Barbara Jordan, Fred Thompson, all captivating the public. When President Nixon resigned, the revulsion at the break-in scandal and cover-up dropped his approval ratings to 23/24%, which propelled Winning Democrat candidates. The final end of the Vietnam War, Brush Wars with Communist groups in Africa, all had strong public disapproval like the Iran War. Also, inflation and economic conditions were dicey then, too, before people knew the label "affordability." Bottomline is for many of the same reasons, the 1974 midterm loss for the majority party is a much closer parallel to what happened to Republicans in 2026 all across America and in Texas. I include a couple of screenshots from @theoelections using their Maps to highlight the large amount of Blue vs. Red in Texas and the Houston Metro areas and SE Texas election results. #txlege PS I will be discussing this on KSEV 700AM Amigos Show from 4pm to 6pm tomorrow. In 1970 when baby boomers were buying houses, the home price to income ratio was 2.3 times. It has doubled now. It's 4.5 times the median home income to buy a home today. #CostOfLiving #Texas Hour 2 of today's show: spreaker.com/episode/wayne-o…

Pulling back emergency powers for the governor's office here in Texas is the kind of thing that a completely Republican Congress and Senate and governor's office should actually do. @brianeharrison is the rep that's actually calling for this. I think do it. #TXLege
🚨 IT'S OFFICIAL: Texas Rep. Brian Harrison is calling on Gov. Greg Abbott to call a special session NOW to rein in executive emergency powers before Democrats take over, which would SEVERELY restrict how much damage Gina Hinojosa can do "It's outrageous that Governor-elect Hinojosa...she's already pledging to use these powers the FIRST DAY!" "Republicans have control of Texas for 10 more weeks! Governor Abbott should call a special session to limit executive emergency powers NOW. I've been advocating for this for years! Let's get it done while we still can!" He wanted this SAME bill in 2022. His bill, HB 911, would: - Ban the governor from suspending or changing state laws - End emergency orders after 30 days unless the Legislature ratifies them - Stop the governor from reissuing orders that expired or that lawmakers rejected - Require emergency orders to be narrowly tailored - Fast-track court challenges to emergency orders In January, a Democrat moves into the Governor's Mansion with those same powers JUST DO IT. TEXAS SURVIVAL MODE.

Look, I got to be honest, I really like this answer from President Trump. I don't like the et tu, Brute version of a thing. The stabbing a guy in the back, Julius Caesar style, in order to remove the guy in power and take his spot. I believe more than I did before that Marco Rubio is in the best position to talk to the American people, potentially make himself a candidate by 2028, and lead a ticket. @JDVance @realDonaldTrump @marcorubio #Midterms2026 Hour 1 of today's show: spreaker.com/episode/brian-h…

A bunch of people stayed home. A bunch of people in this state chose not to vote, either because they didn't like the candidate, they thought things are good enough because Trump's in the White House, or they just didn't think this could happen. #Midterms2026
🚨 TRUTH: The road to 2028 started last night, and Republicans already know exactly what went wrong. "A lot of our voters who stayed home, they stayed home because they were frustrated with the lack of productivity from Republicans in the House and Senate." That is not a Trump problem. That is a THUNE and JOHNSON problem. The base did not abandon the agenda. They got tired of watching Congress refuse to pass it. Pass the bills or lose the voters.

I would say this about the left compared to the right, they all lie. But the left, they're better liars because they'll act more like nice people and then they won't actually be nice people behind the scenes. The right at least at times shows you who they are. #Midterms2026 Hour 2 of today's show: spreaker.com/episode/ken-pax…

This overwhelming loss can't just be put on the feet of Trump. It can be put on the feet of some of the rhetoric and some of the ways Republicans go about presenting themselves as candidates. And so it is on us. #Midterms2026
Last night, Republicans lost the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, and my home state of Texas, a conservative cornerstone for more than three decades, because our party forgot the basic rules of coalition politics:   1. Add, don’t subtract 2. Be likeable 3. Do what you promised 4. Character & integrity still matter   Time to turn the page and rebuild. Read my full thoughts in the @WSJ: wsj.com/opinion/republicans-…

I think you got Rubio or bust right now. A lot of people tried to emulate Trump, and I think it's on them. JD Vance tries to sound like Trump, but he's not as funny. And so he just sounds mean. @marcorubio #Rubio
I project that Marco Rubio is the Republican nominee in 2028. JD Vance is headed for the dumpster.

When you look at Ken Paxton and the way he ran this race, there was too much assumed victory going on. I think it's our own arrogance in a place like Texas that money didn't flood in sooner. #TXSen
We just took back Texas.

We probably should have done a lot more attacking to end this thing sooner. We didn't fight the fight the way we should have fought it to be over sooner, to not cause as much pain at the pump for the American voter. #Iran Hour 2 of today's show: spreaker.com/episode/james-t…

There's so many things @jamestalarico has flip-flopped on in the 11th hour. You now know, much like most politicians, he can't be trusted at all. The only thing you can actually do to assess whether or not Talarico would be a good politician for this state is look at his voting record, and guess what, it's horrible. #TXSen Full hour: spreaker.com/episode/james-t… Listen live weekdays 7-9 AM CT on the KSEV app: ksevradio.com/app/?utm_sourc…

Talarico's own side got caught on tape: "James will not vote to close... the border." It's Election Day, Texas. Rain or shine, go vote. 7 AM on the KSEV app ksevradio.com/app/?utm_sourc…

You guys build Whataburger up so much that I think it can't live up to it. Every time I've been to Whataburger, I've eaten it, I've been like, this is fine. I'm being very un-Texan right now, very un-Houston. But defend it to me. #Houston Full show: spreaker.com/episode/ken-pax…
