PHOTOS: Downtown St. Louis is showing very encouraging signs of progress. The SLMPD has dramatically increased its manpower and adapted its tactics to make downtown safer. Organizations like Downtown Forward are working successfully behind the scenes to rid downtown of bad businesses like vape shops, the Mark Twain hotel, and others whose customers contribute to public disorder and criminal activity. City government is becoming an active and engaged partner. Developers like Alex Oliver and AHM understand that they are building a neighborhood, not just buying a project to generate short-term cash for investors. An active neighborhood organization with over 500 members brings residents and small businesses together to share information, enjoy social activities and advocate for downtown. But restoring the reputation and growth of downtown St. Louis will not be done with press releases, trophy projects that require massive public subsidies, or through meetings and pronouncements by leaders who won’t live or locate their businesses here. The work of reinvigorating our downtown starts with doing the work “below the waterline” that creates enduring conditions for growth. We need to stop dismissing downtown problems as “perception”. There are too many vacant storefronts, boarded up windows, empty offices, and graffiti-covered abandoned structures. There is far too much panhandling, drug dealing & using, mental illness, and people sleeping on public sidewalks. Marketing that ignores these issues is simply not authentic. Let’s focus on the real work that will ultimately create growth and vibrancy. It may not make for a great press release, but it can make a great downtown. #Citizens4STL @MikeLKehoe @AGCHanaway @SLMPD @MitchellMcCoy @CFDstlfd @saintlouismayor @saintlouispres @SLDCmo @DevelopStLouis @AlderSheenBean @JamiCMichele @LishaLiberty @shanecohn @VDanielaV @Schweitzer88 @OldenburgSTL @STL4Ward @schubbard10 @boydstuff @GreaterSTLinc @CommerceBank @enterprisecares @Cardinals @horseshoestl @Advantes @UnionStationSTL @HiltonBallpark @AquariumSTL @Stifel @SchnuckMarkets @DowntownStLouis @stlcid @carolinehecker @charliekmox @andybankertv @rlippmann @solomonreports @DavidAmelottiTV @MarkMaxwellTV @ChrisHayesTV @RyanWKrull @kevinmcdermott @davidhoffmannmo

Missourians shouldn't accept that violent crime is just a part of living in St. Louis. I've been working closely with the Trump Admin to make St. Louis safe & protect MO families. Operation Show Me Justice is just the latest surge to tackle crime, & we're just getting started.

Love seeing this. More of this please.
435 arrests, including 412 on outstanding warrants, following a major law enforcement crackdown in Missouri. Federal agents smash through the front door of a St. Louis home with a battering ram, deploy a drone and send in a police K-9 as @MikeTobinFox joins them for an exclusive ride-along. The DOJ-sponsored "Operation Show Me Justice" targets violent crime, with Acting Deputy Attorney General Trent McCotter announcing the seizure of 80 kilos of drugs, 166 illegal firearms, six machine gun conversion devices and more than $1 million in cash. See the moments captured during the operation and the full breakdown of the results: foxnews.com/us/doj-touts-hun…

Metallica sold us tickets for metal, not a manifesto. If your fandom requires the band to perform your politics, the problem isn’t them; it's your sorry propagandizing ass. 🖕

Proud of these students at @SLU_Official!
The media will have you believing all of St. Louis is liberal. Today at Saint Louis University, I saw otherwise. Students were EXCITED to see @TPUSA on campus and even more excited to find out there are other like-minded students! Staff members stopped by to thank us for being there. Some grabbed a button or sticker and said, “Now I just have to hide this from my colleagues.” Why are we normalizing putting down conservatives for their viewpoints? When did it become normal to make conservatives afraid to voice their opinions because they’re worried about being criticized or attacked? Oh, that’s right. When the media convinced us this was the new normal! There is HOPE in the next generation, and the conservative movement is NOT dead! 🇺🇸🔥 @tpusastudents

That's because Congress sucks.
I absolutely hate the time change, and most people do. Congress can't even get that done.

Thanks for saying it, Judy! If you don’t like it here, please GTFO!! America is the greatest but it would be a lot better if the whiny bitches would please leave.
🔥 HOLY MIC DROP. Judge Judy just dropped the hammer on those who constantly trash America while living here. “If you don’t like this country, go somewhere else. Don’t come to the greatest country in the world, the most successful country in the world and say, ‘I want to change it.’” She also pointed to the polio vaccine and AI as examples of American innovation, while emphasizing that this is a capitalist country that “revered excellence” and entrepreneurship. “Whether you like it or not, it’s there.” OOF. SAY IT LOUDER, JUDGE JUDY. 👏🔥🇺🇸

Have you ever noticed we live in a country where a 95-year-old man can walk into a mud pit in Chicago, call his band The Fuckers, and start reciting “Enter Sandman” like he’s giving a TED Talk from the afterlife? William Shatner. Ninety-five. Riot Fest. Douglass Park. Thirty-five minutes. Spoken-word heavy metal. In the mud. With people cheering like this is normal. It is not normal. It is magnificent. He did “Crazy Train.” He did “Ace of Spades.” He did Metallica. Not sang them. Talked them. Like Captain Kirk got trapped in a guitar amp and decided to negotiate with Satan instead of the Klingons. Behind him: actual musicians. Marcus Nand. Phil Soussan. Grown men who have paid rent with real notes while a nonagenarian stands there going, “What the F is heavy metal?” and somehow makes it a question worth answering. Brian May is on the record. Tony Iommi is on the record. The album is called *What the F Is Heavy Metal?* which is the most honest title in music since someone first admitted most of it is just louder complaining. The crowd ate it up. Of course they did. We will watch a man old enough to remember radio as furniture stand in wet dirt and dare death to tap him on the shoulder. Death probably took one look, said “I’m not dealing with this today,” and went to find someone easier. You’re never too old to live out your dreams. That’s the line they always use. The real line is: most people quit the second it gets embarrassing. Shatner waited until embarrassing became the whole act, then sold tickets. Follow @wickedsmaahht before the rest of the timeline figures it out. #WilliamShatner #RiotFest #WhatTheFIsHeavyMetal #NeverTooOld #SpokenWordMetal #LiveLongAndGetLouder #CaptainKirkHasEnteredTheChat

Thank you, coach. So well said.
Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz hammers Kansas for social media post before the game.. “…I get there’s a past. But why are we stirring that bullcrap up?…I was embarrassed for them, to be honest, and that’s why I tried to embarrass them at the end.”
