Nathan Johnson was just elected attorney general of Texas as a Democrat, but before entering politics, he composed music for the anime series “Dragon Ball Z.” “If you grew up watching ‘Dragon Ball Z,’ you might know me better than you think: I composed the musical scores for 67 episodes and five movies and had a great time doing it,” Johnson posted on his official Facebook page. In an interview with Texas Sen. Taylor Rehmet, Johnson said the process was a lot of fun and earned him street cred with his kids and their friends. variety.com/2026/artisans/ne…

After heavy rain caused flash flooding across Brevard County, OCSO’s High Water Rescue Team deployed to the Melbourne area yesterday afternoon, working into the early morning hours to rescue trapped residents. Their efforts helped save 23 people, two cats, and three dogs. Our team is back home and standing by, ready to respond if called again. Great work!

Sad day seeing this post. I appreciate @ManeLandMichael for giving me an opportunity to talk and write about soccer with some like-minded folks. Thank you. I value the friendships made being a part of this group. I’m going to miss the coverage & podcasts.

11/2/26 10:00 AM | Remember never drive through a flooded roadway—find an alternate route. Stay home and off the roads if possible. Driving through floodwaters can: 🚗 Flood your vehicle 💧Push water toward homes and neighborhoods ⚠️ Hide dangerous hazards under the surface

Bring on stays and goes and all the offseason coverage. It’s going to be a short one since the early start next year.

Officially closed the book on @JohnHedlund4’s home career tonight in the best way possible – a win over UTSA. Final tally in Denton and JOHN HEDLUND FIELD: 225-50-29 and an NCAA record that still stands with 65 straight unbeaten conference matches from 2009-2022 🫡 #GMG

Pope Leo XIV has voted in the midterm elections of the United States, expressing his “belief in the right and the duty of citizens to participate in democratic processes.” The Holy See Press Office announced on Friday that Pope Leo XIV, an American citizen, "has exercised his right to vote as a United States citizen, whenever he was eligible to do so." The Press Office confirmed that, “in keeping with this long-standing practice of civic participation, he has submitted his mail-in ballot in Chicago.” “The Holy Father has also confirmed that, during his years of residence in Peru he exercised his right to vote whenever he was eligible to do so,” noted the statement.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield
