37419 Parked at a very cold Kyle of Lochalsh. I seem to remember this was a Sunday when there was no service, so the train didn’t leave until Monday morning. Stranded in Kyle…I can think of worse places! #Class37 #LargeLogo #HighlandRail #KyleOfLochalsh #Trainspotting

08780 and a classmate stabled outside Landore running shed, 9/5/87, if you couldn't get around the surrounding streets gave a good view of the yard, although now the view is blocked by trees and bushes, not that there is much to see in any case.

#OnThisDay 170 years ago Bracknell station was opened by the Staines & Wokingham Railway (later absorbed by the LSWR). It was a charming station until 1975 when it was redeveloped, here's a 1970 view with a single 2-BIL unit approaching: Peter Nicholls buff.ly/wxFH4Qc

ALT A London bound train enters Bracknell Station. July 1970. Train is a 2-BIL – a 2 carriage bi-lavatory unit – each carriage was all compartments with a side corridor leading to a toilet - the units being designed for longish cross country journeys. Two carriages were sufficient in those quieter days for off peak services. These units (together with another similar type) ran the Reading – Waterloo service from electrification in the 1930’s until withdrawal around 1970.

Our thoughts tonight are with the family and friends of the driver who died in the crash near Bedford today, and with the passengers injured in the accident.
We want to thank the emergency services who responded so quickly to help those on board and are still at the scene.
