Can I be tedious for a minute and point out a major road safety issue that is getting worse by the day. Look into pretty much anyones car and you will see this. If this is a habit of yours. Please have a word with yourself and fucking stop. Put the phone away.

As a Dutchman coming to live in Toronto, I was told you can only cycle half the year. Struck me as odd since I also heard that Canadians wear shorts until it is -10ºC. Now I know. It is not so much the weather. It is that they mostly only clean roads for cars, not for bicycles.

"The Dutch have one of the most physically active populations in the world, largely because it is built into their urban fabric. They also have the happiest children in the world, largely because they can move freely and independently from around eight." eesi.org/articles/view/qa-th…

Childhood used to mean adventure, healthy activity, autonomy. In North America, Australia, and the UK, they've been engineered out of our lives so that grown-ups can keep driving their cars.

Yesterday was a great day to buy your first ebike. Today is even better. Rad just dropped the price of the RadMission to $900, and that will shake up the entry level of the market. If you want an ebike that looks like a regular bike, you'll love this.

As these Norwegian researchers note, road deaths are falling across the developed world -- but not in the United States, where fatalities are rising faster than ever. (info: autoblog.com/2022/05/17/nhts…) The USA is a global outlier in road safety. tsr.international/TSR/articl…

As of today, 2,000 more Denverites can claim a $400 rebate for buying an e-bike or $900 for a cargo bike (low-income residents can get $1,200). This program is a big hit, one that state/city DOTs nationwide should be studying. westword.com/news/denver-ebi…

Around two-thirds of all Dutch children walk or cycle to school, preventing an estimated one million car trips across the country each morning. That’s less strain on their streets, their wallets, and their lives; simply by enabling safe and active travel. Video by @BicycleDutch.

The Dutch government wants to create 900,000 housing units by 2030. To ensure it’s affordable and sustainable, compactness and proximity are key. That means significantly reducing car ownership/parking; investing €7.5 billion in improving bike-train accessibility to amenities. – at Delft, Nederland

Is there any city in the U.S. seriously talking about building a bicycle freeway network? We need dedicated, paved and where possible grade separated bikeways that allow people on bikes to safely move throughout the city with out interactions with cars or pedestrians.
