Today, I was pleased to welcome Minister of Seniors and Accessibility @RaymondChoPC to Oakville to tour the North Oakville Older Adult Program at the Sixteen Mile Creek Sports Complex. Ontario’s continued investment of $55,000 through the Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) program helps ensure seniors in our community have access to programs that keep them active, engaged, and connected. As social isolation remains one of the greatest challenges facing older adults and can contribute to declining physical and mental well-being, these programs play an important role in fostering friendships, promoting healthy aging, and helping seniors remain connected to community life. We also enjoyed watching Minister Cho play a friendly game of table tennis and wished him a Happy 90th Birthday. Congratulations and thank you to the @townofoakville and everyone who helps make these valuable programs at Sixteen Mile's Older Adults Centre possible. @MayorRobBurton #Oakville #OakvilleNorthBurlington #Seniors

The First-Ever Medical School in Scarborough is now OPEN! This is a historic moment years in the making that will change Scarborough for generations. Under the leadership of Premier @fordnation and Minister @SylviaJonesMPP, our government continues to make record investments in healthcare to bring quality care to everyone across the province.  For years, Scarborough has punched above its weight. But too many families here have struggled to find a family doctor close to home, or had to leave their own neighbourhood to get the care they need. The Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH), housed in the new five-storey Myron and Berna Garron Health Sciences Complex at the University of Toronto Scarborough, is now training doctors, nurse practitioners, and health-care professionals right here in our community, to better serve our community. When students train in a community, they build their lives there. They stay. They practise. They raise their families. The doctors and nurses training at SAMIH today are the doctors and nurses who will care for Scarborough families for decades to come. This didn't happen overnight. It's the result of years of advocacy from this community, a landmark partnership with the University of Toronto, the generosity of donors, and our government's largest expansion of medical education in 15 years. To every student walking through those doors, you are making history. And to every Scarborough family, this school is for you. This is what investing in Scarborough looks like. 💪

My thoughts are with everybody who has been affected by the terrible incident that took place at CFB Wainwright in Alberta last night, including members of our armed forces and the heroic first responders on the scene. As Canadians, let’s come together to support our brave men and women in uniform, who put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms and our country. Ontario stands ready to help the recovery efforts however we can.

From building mines faster to leading the largest nuclear buildout in North America — Ontario's plan is anchored in a belief that we must build, mine, manufacture, and refine more at home. innisfiltoday.ca/local-news/…

Quebec voters have chosen Paul St-Pierre Plamondon as their next premier. Congratulations on your victory. Joining the premiers’ table is an immense honour and responsibility, especially as we continue to confront President Trump’s attacks on Canada’s economy. Canadians rightly expect that premiers from coast to coast to coast stand united and work together to protect workers and their paycheques, protect businesses and protect families. Together, Quebec and Ontario can create more jobs, grow our economies and build a stronger future. Thank you Premier Fréchette for your many years of service to Quebec and Canada. I wish you and your family nothing but the best as you enter this next chapter.

Police officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. The least we can do in response is have their backs, no matter what. Today, I wrote to the Prime Minister outlining a series of practical steps to support and protect our brave women and men in uniform.
