Can we use social evolution theory to help identify new and interesting Bt toxins? not sure yet but we can use it to weed out non-functional proteins from a small library- our latest application of social evolution out now in AEM doi.org/10.1128/aem.00512-23 with @TatianaDimitriu

Most of the ambulances in Cornwall were parked outside A&E. Spoke to one of the paramedics and he said there were 12 parked up at one point. Not that long ago Cornwall only had 16 in total. Just as well I didn’t wait for one to come otherwise things could have been much worse

⁦@insectdoctors⁩ visit to Medfly sterile insect technique factory in Valencia. A “small “ facility making only half a billion flies a week. Really good to see everyone after years of travel problems

Dear microbe people- any clues to what this wriggling white mass might be? Colonising mouse cadavers fed to burying beetles- the white threads move when the containers are opened. My first hunch is slime mold but am generally puzzled.
