Damn, this hits home.
Iโve been a boss for a min, but Iโve also had terrible bosses. In fact, verbal abuse from my boss was one of the reasons I left IHS end of 2016 and eventually started DRAG full-time.
I promised myself Iโd never lead people that way, but in 2023, I failed at that.
A client was angry over a delayed project, and instead of managing the pressure, I took it out on my assistant. I felt terrible afterwards, but I never apologised. Thatโs something I still own.
Today, that same assistant has a much better-paying job that takes him around the world. Iโm proud to have played a part in his growth, and weโre still very close friends.
That experience taught me something: Being under pressure doesnโt give you the right to become someone elseโs problem.
Leadership isnโt about how much authority you can exercise. Itโs about how much growth you can inspire without stripping people of their dignity.
You can correct people without humiliating them. You can demand excellence without being cruel.
Humility is an underrated leadership skill.

That need to understand what's going on in my life drove me to message Bob Proctor's platform via email, i can't remember what i said, but dem recommend one of their programs gimme, tear me $200 billing, my eyes clear one time, i sent another email explaining my finances ๐คฃ
In 2018, I was learning shoemaking, and one day I got to the shop late.
My boss told me to kneel outside, then handed one of my seniors a belt and told him to flog me if I moved.
Lmfao ๐ญ
I looked at my senior, stood up without saying a word, went inside, packed my things and left.
My boss was shouting, โDid I tell you to stand up?โ but I didnโt even look back. That was my last day there.
When I got home and told my mum, she said they were lucky I left because if anyone had flogged me, they wouldโve regretted it. And trust me, I know my mum ๐ญ
A few months later, I started learning printing on mugs, clothes and picture frames.
During a fuel scarcity, my new boss sent me and a senior apprentice to buy fuel. He specifically told us not to buy if it cost more than โฆ700 per litre.
We searched everywhere until we finally found somewhere selling at โฆ700.65. Just 65 kobo extra.
We bought 20 litres and returned to the shop.
This man asked why we bought it despite the extra 65 kobo. We tried explaining, but he dragged my senior inside and beat the hell out of him.
And while beating him, he kept saying I was next.
Omo, I ran home out of fear ๐ญ๐ญ
After a few more years of trying different things, I eventually found my way into tech, and thankfully, Iโm doing well for myself today.
Looking back, some of the things apprentices went through in the name of learning a skill were actually insane.

Exactly. Making money is a skill, keeping it is discipline, and multiplying it is wisdom. Saving alone won't make you rich, investing will.

The ratio of graduates to roles is very wide.
That's why most of these top companies set hard assessments to weed off a lot of applicants.
That's why; You're either freelancing - unstable/
You have a business - Capital + marketing/
A solution people would continually pay for.

was once in support of this narrative until i started my own brand.
why most sellers donโt put a direct quote on their product are due to the fact that:
1. nigeriaโs economy is so unstable!
one could go to the market to get a fabric today and tomorrow the price has doubled
2. if itโs something wearable, pricing would vary with sizes
3. custom orders.
as a designer a client might want theirs to have a long sleeve, baggier pants, etc
so many more sha but these are my main reasons for now..

A tweet from @Raynerdtech inspired me to upgrade my AI resume analyzer. ๐
Now, it does more than extract skills and recommend jobs.
It also:
* Generates a cover letter
* Uncovers alternative career paths with higher earning potential
* Gives you a step by step transition guide
I built my first AI application ๐ฅณ
It's an application that scans your resume, extracts the skills in it and recommends jobs based on what it knows from the resume.
A simple application i built to learn the basics of Langchain, LLM APIs and AI engineering.
Still a long way to go but a step in the right direction

IMO if your business isnโt a service based business which is price dependent on service scope you have no business with hiding your prices.
Attach that price to your product and save our time and energy please.

This is exactly why we're building Invoiss. Manage invoices and track payments right from WhatsApp, without digging through old chats.
Thanks @Raynerdtech
This client reached out around June to build a headless Shopify store.
Heโs a very busy man, so he goes on and off. At one point, he disappeared for about 3 months, so a project that was supposed to take 2โ4 weeks has stretched to almost 6 months.
The funny part is, the last time he asked me how much he still owed, I genuinely had no clue ๐ญ
He had already paid twice, I couldnโt remember the original quote, and I had to dig through old WhatsApp chats and my bank statement just to piece everything together.
Thatโs exactly why Invoiss by @abbeydeveloper makes sense to me.
Since the whole conversation with the client is already happening on WhatsApp, I can manage the invoicing there too with their WhatsApp AI.
Create the invoice, track payment milestones, record what has been paid, see whatโs still outstanding and come back months later without searching through old chats or bank transactions.
Thatโs the kind of automation I actually find useful.
It removes a problem Iโve already experienced myself.

Yes he's a developer and he understands how it works, but it's clear he was explicitly talking about how regions affects availability of certain apps to Nigerians.
It still draws back to what the owners think of Nigeria.

Switching platforms shouldnโt mean starting over.
Just shipped platform imports on @symplaxhq.
Move from Railway, DigitalOcean or Vercel to a server you own. Four steps. Nothing on your source platform is touched. Failed imports roll back cleanly.
On Render, one web service + a Postgres database + Redis costs $54/month minimum. Each service billed separately.
A Spark server on Symplax gives you 2 vCPU, 4GB RAM and 40GB SSD. Run all three on it.
Coming next: Render, Heroku and Fly .io.
Your apps. Your server. Your data.

โข Never use floating-point numbers for money. Use integer minor units or a proper decimal type.
โข Use a proper ledger for every movement of money. Donโt make one mutable balance field your only source of truth.
โข Make every money-moving request ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ so retries, double-clicks or network issues cannot create duplicate transactions.
โข Handle concurrency properly so two withdrawals hitting the same account at the same time cannot spend the same money twice.
โข Verify webhook signatures and safely handle duplicate, delayed, replayed and out-of-order webhooks.
โข Never trust the frontend to tell you a payment succeeded. Verify it server-side with the payment provider.
โข Enforce authorization server-side on every account, transaction and resource.
โข Keep API keys, database credentials and other secrets out of the frontend and your repo.
โข Add rate limits and sensible transaction limits to login, OTP, transfers, withdrawals and other sensitive operations.
โข Keep an audit trail of important financial actions without logging passwords, tokens or sensitive payment data.
โข Add reconciliation so your ledger can be compared against the payment provider or bank and discrepancies can be detected.
โข Design transactions so timeouts, crashes and failed dependencies cannot leave money in an unknown state.
Then tell it:

Send the same transfer 10 times.
โ Send 20 withdrawals against the same balance simultaneously.
โ Send the same webhook repeatedly.
โ Send a webhook with a fake signature.
โ Send webhooks out of order.
โ Kill a worker halfway through processing.
โ Simulate the payment provider timing out after taking the money.
โ Simulate the database failing halfway through a transaction.
โ Log in as User A and try accessing User Bโs transactions.
โ Test โฆ0, negative values, absurdly large values and malformed amounts.
โ Retry requests after timeouts.
โ Restart the application while a transaction is processing.
Then reconcile your ledger against the provider and make sure ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ โฆ๐ญ is exactly where it should be.

Run dependency, secret, static and API security scans.
Test everything with your payment providerโs sandbox/staging environment.
Set up monitoring and alerts for abnormal transactions.
Get someone who actually understands security to review the critical flows.
And if youโre handling card data or operating an actual financial product, understand the PCI and regulatory requirements that apply to what youโre building.
