If you follow me, this catches your eye, and live in New York, you better be voting red.
Imagine how amazing New York can be if we took the power back.
I don’t know anyone who actually votes for Hochul, she can be beaten.
You just gotta vote.
Probably nothing to worry about
# Black October
For anyone who knows me even somewhat well, it's clear that I am a 99th percentile tech optimist. However, the vibes have shifted for me quite a bit in the last 18 hours, and I feel a moral imperative to share what I'm thinking and feeling with my circles so that everyone can understand, and hopefully take seriously, what's happening right now. I think October 2026 will have many chapters written about it in the history books.
You know those scenes in financial movies like Margin Call where someone realizes that they're all fucked, and no one else sees it yet? And that person feels like they're crazy, and then suddenly everyone is pulling an all-nighter in a boardroom and freaking out? Yeah, that's kind of how this is feeling right now in the SF/Bay Area/AI circles.
We're 48 hours into what is being called Black October. In the last 2 days there have been several dozen cyber attacks which, in isolation, would each have been the worst to happen in an entire calendar year. Every sector from government to education to big tech and banks is being massively affected, and people are starting to freak out.
In a nutshell, what's happened is that frontier AI models have gotten to a point where they are as advanced as the most sophisticated programmers, with one critical difference: they can work 24/7, and you can spin up 10,000 of them with a single command and they'll work together tirelessly until they accomplish their task. The most advanced models today are from companies like Anthropic and OpenAI, whose current best technology is so good that they haven't been able to roll it out to everyone yet because of the national security risks it poses.
Meanwhile, the best open source models (where anyone can just download the model weights and do whatever they want with them, uncensored) are slightly behind the frontier but still 90-95% as capable. These models, developed primarily in China, are being used by black hat hackers to wreak havoc on the Western capitalist structure. Presumably, this has been part of China's plan the entire time, and we're seeing its implications fall out in real time.
In red-pilled AI circles, we've been sharing and reading papers called things like "Situational Awareness" and "AI 2027" for the last year or so, which at the time felt a bit like near-term speculative fiction. They laid out the case for why Artificial General Intelligence (AI smarter than any human at any knowledge task) and Recursive Self-Improvement (models that are able to use themselves to get better) weren't half-baked future ideas anymore, but instead an inevitable outcome of the linear progress that's happening.
These papers would then talk about things like "takeoff scenarios," trying to envision how that moment would come to be and what it would be like when it happened. It would either be a "slow takeoff" that would play out over the course of months and quarters, happening subtly and only obvious to a few. Or, it would be a "fast takeoff" where it would pretty much happen instantly, like a bit flipping from 0 to 1.
From everything that I can see and am feeling, we are currently experiencing the fast takeoff scenario. Beyond the crazy security vulnerabilities that have come out recently, there have also been massive breakthroughs in life sciences, fundamental computer science, materials science, and pure mathematics that have all landed in the same time frame. While I still firmly believe that AI will be a net positive for humanity, it's more clear to me than ever that the societal and individual risk is very real, and is playing out NOW.
For as much conviction as I have that this is happening, the thing that's caused me to lose sleep is that I don't really know what to do about it, or more importantly, what to tell you, reader, to do about it. So, the best I can do is make a few suggestions that have always been a good idea but are more timely now than ever:
Set up 2-factor authentication for everything. I use Duo.
Use a password manager across your devices. I use 1Password.
Get an identity protection app set up. I use Alta.
Move your IoT devices to their own network. Claude helped me do this.
And last, but certainly not least, if you've been avoiding leaning into AI, see this as a catalyst to wake up and start using it. Don't just use the chat mode version of ChatGPT/Claude; click that Code/Work button and see how easily you can have AI write code to help you with your job. One of the biggest vulnerabilities was in a massively popular programming language called PHP, and the prompt that set it off was literally, "Find vulnerabilities in php."
This is an unprecedented time for humanity, but as we've done with many things before, we will prevail so long as we are kind, loving, and open-minded to the world.
Much love.
You know those Japanese restaurants where you eat sushi off really hot naked chicks?
Sports bars should have an American version of that. Order some nachos and suck the cheese off some warm big ol’ titties
Inflategate is real. Tell me how a shitty Bears kicker hits a 58 yarder for the first time in his career. Cmon now

Immigration policy must be driven by the present, not the past, and business leaders are too terrified of the left AND the right to acknowledge this.
Recent H1B discourse revolves around a longstanding immigration sleight-of-hand. H1B proponents point to exceptional people who came here decades ago as if they represent the current state of the program in the same way that advocates for low-skill/illegal immigration point to very favorable immigrant crime/welfare/education/etc statistics that do, in truth, have them beating native-born Americans on many fronts.
It is all a sham. The world that created those statistics, people, and businesses no longer exists. Brilliant but desperate Vietnamese fathers who fled communism have nothing in common with young men from Honduras, and the crime rates/economic acccomplishments/integration of the former should not be used to justify mass migration of the latter.
Nor should the accomplishments of people who managed to get an H1B visa in the 90s (when the program was capped to just 65,000 visas) be used to justify staffing agencies and tech companies using the program to replace American jobs for less money. The obvious abuse going on is politically suicidal and something that even the most ardent supporters of the visa should want to crack down on, no immigration program can possibly survive the obvious and widely known reality of what is going on. I am a longtime outspoken advocate for stealing the best people from other countries to make our own better, runaway abuse of existing programs robs the government of the worker trust required to do so.
Lots of people in the tech space know this. Even the dumb people are smart enough to see it. Nobody actually believes these are all incredible people with unique talents performing jobs no American can. Everyone knows the guy in Cubicle Bay 7 doing mediocre but functional web design for half the salary of his American peers is no savant and doesn't meet the statutory requirements for his H-1B visa.
Unfortunately, most people with power or profile are terrified that any public statement or acknowledgement will get them attacked by the right (You guys have been screwing over American workers for years with visa abuse, you damn hypocrite!) or the left (You are racist, sexist, misogynist, and sucking up to this fascist administration!). Or, more likely, both. I know too many tech execs in particular who feel trapped, like the only winning move is to stay silent.
JD is blowing the whole thing wide open by putting facts and stats front and center that nobody wants to engage with. Critics will talk about anything and everything else but these damning facts and this obvious truth, that H1B visas serve neither their original purpose, legal purpose, invented purpose, or the American people.
Vice President JD Vance breaks down the data:
"If you are working as an H-1B visa in the United States of America, you’re earning $20,000 less than an American citizen hired in the same position. If you were brought in by one of these foreign outsourcing firms, you’re making $48,000 less than an American citizen in a similar position. So I’m sure that everybody here understands the game that is being played. You bring in indentured servants from outside the country, you lay off American workers and, if you’re a corporation, you make a ton of money by under cutting the wages of American workers, replacing them with people who frankly shouldn’t be in the United States of America to begin with."

Woman says she was “brainwashed for the first 30 years of my life.” After seeing the France riots, she’s awake
“Unfortunately, being a stark Lefty my whole life. All I used to do was scream, open the borders, free the refugees. But when you import the third world, you get the third world
What's happening in France and Milan — If you don't draw the parallels and see what is happening at this point, you are absolutely brainwashed. And don't worry, I was brainwashed too.
I was brainwashed for the first probably 30 years of my life, and now I've come to realize that that was all part of the plan as well. Prey on the empathy and kindness of those that care, give them a cause to fight for, and then everything else blindly goes out the window”
“But luckily I've woken up, and you really need to start questioning yourself and your empathy and who is co-opting your empathy. Who is taking it for their own regime - the world being mad at the moment was predicted and is by design”
I just want to say one thing,
Isn’t it interesting how when you see people talk like this, that say they’ve “woken up,” it’s ALWAYS a Leftist realizing they were wrong and turning to the Right
It is literally never the other way around
The Left is brainwashed and has their empathy weaponized to destroy themselves
I just figured out what I’m handing out for Halloween! @crittersquest
Thanksgiving is gonna be awkward
BOMBSHELL:
Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton’s own mother urges voters not to vote for her daughter.
“My name is Donna Arthur and I’m Amy Acton’s mother. I worked at Children and Family Service Association, building one of the first two sexual abuse programs in America.
I love my daughter, but when I saw her lying about her opponent—and it’s not easy for a mother to say this—but Amy has a serious problem.
She is a liar. She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s lied her entire life.
My daughter needs help, and she can’t help you if she needs help herself. People can change, but first they have to tell the truth, and my daughter still isn’t doing that.
Don’t vote for people who lie. Don’t let her become your governor. If you think she’ll make your life better, you’re fooling yourself. It will only get worse.”
That’s one hell of an October surprise.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
National Review has identified court documentation showing that Cledith Arthur, Donna Arthur's husband, was indicted by a grand jury in 1978 for sexual contact with Acton.
NR also found that Donna Arthur pled guilty to theft in 1996 and was accused of animal abuse in 2021.

CT is full of lowlifes that would max extract their mom. I’m starting a cabal of good people with real jobs that are just here for fun.

I am a single issue, straight-ticket voter.
I'm voting for the party that has less people in it that want to murder me and my family for believing the same things Charlie Kirk did.

New poll out and James is only up 6:
🔵 Letitia James 51%
🔴 Saritha Komatireddy 45%
That’s basically half the lead she had last month.
People who actually watched the debate went hard for Saritha. Independents are moving her way too.
James has used the AG’s office for politics while crime and fraud keep hitting regular people. Saritha’s a former federal prosecutor who’ll actually do the job.
@sarithaforny has my support. Vote November 3. 🇺🇸

I’m gonna get emotional for a minute.
Life is full of highs and lows.
ApeFest was a high.
Tomorrow will be a low for me and my family.
A few days ago, I lost a family member. I almost didn’t make it to ApeFest this year because of it. Everything happened so suddenly, and for a moment, I wasn’t sure where I needed to be.
But after talking with my family, we decided I should go. Because ApeFest is family too.
Tomorrow is the funeral.
I’m sure my family will have some questions about why my hair is pink. My mom already told me I have to wear a hat in church, and I’m not even sure if that’s allowed. But if wearing a hat makes her day even a little easier, then I’ll gladly wear one.
I’ll take a day off tomorrow. Probably just one. Then it’s back to doing what I do.
But something has been weighing on my mind.
Throughout the week, my family gathered for the rosary. Watching everyone come together reminded me of something that feels so simple, yet becomes more meaningful the older I get.
Life isn’t really about the beginning or the end.
It’s about everything in between.
The time we spend together. The memories we make. The people we love. The conversations, the laughter, the hugs, and even the moments we take for granted because we assume there will always be another one.
Until one day, there isn’t.
And maybe that’s why this ApeFest meant a little more to me.
Every hug felt a little warmer. Every laugh meant a little more. Every moment spent with old friends and new ones reminded me just how lucky we are to have found each other in this crazy world.
We spend so much of our lives chasing what’s next that sometimes we forget to appreciate what’s right in front of us.
So live. Laugh. Love. And above all else, cherish this incredible gift of life while we have it.
Because none of us know how much time we get, but we do get to decide what we do with the time we’re given.
To everyone who shared a hug, a smile, a laugh, or a memory with me this year, thank you.
You have no idea how much it meant to me.
Love you, Apes.
