Eritrean Dictator Isaias' groupies, trolls, and sycophants will have a snitfit over @HornReview analysis on Isaias' worldview. Key line: "Isaias’s antagonism towards the West and his disinterest in engagement are likely to remain a barrier." Very true!

"A muzzled, fearful press deprives the general public of reliable, fact-based reporting precisely when transparent, verified information is most critical for peacebuilding, inter-communal reconciliation, democratic dialogue, and effective public governance."

President Isaias was in Moscow for the Russia-Africa Summit. In an interview with Sputnik, he made it abundantly clear he was “not coming from the vantage point of Eritrea and Eritrean interests because it has nothing to do with the reality on the ground.” One is at a loss what to make of such a statement coming, as it does, from a leader of an impoverished nation that spends most of its meager resources more to bankroll destabilizing campaigns throughout the region than in building badly needed clinics or schools.
Far from pursuing bilateral relations that could perhaps help improve the plight of his people, he has made it perfectly clear he is more interested in ‘righting the wrongs’ in the global financial system including addressing the containment policy against Russia than in taking care of bread and butter issues of the people of Eritrea. In light of President Isaias’ proclivities to punching above his weight, such grandstanding is not entirely out of character.
What’s so striking about his remarks in Moscow, however, his dismissal of the relevance of individual countries’ cases including that of Eritrea as agenda in the summit in Moscow called exactly to address Russia’s relations with African countries. Many on social media were commenting on President Isaias’ dejected look, with his hands loosely hanging by his waist, and looking confused and out of place. Indeed, for a casual observer, the Eritrean president cut a sad figure throughout the summit and appeared to have difficulty fitting in the hustle bustle in Moscow. But that’s beside the point.
The bottomline is President Isaias didn’t hold any bilats, didn’t address the gathering nor proffer his unsolicited views on global order to the Summit. He was just too bored to broach such silly subjects as Russo-Eritrean relations or Russo-African relations.
If anything, this is yet another admission by the Eritrean President for life that when it comes to his priorities as a leader it is the unfairness in the global order, not Eritrea’s national interest, that comes front and center. After all, Eritrea has always been too small a project for a president whose imperial overreach knows no boundaries.

🇷🇺🇪🇷 Russia and Eritrea are exploring cooperation to modernize Eritrea's port and railway infrastructure.
It was announced following high-level talks between President Isaias Afwerki and Transport Minister Dmitry Yadrov.
Russian companies expressed readiness to assist with port construction and provide technical consulting for the country's transport networks.

Yesterday, I spoke with an Eritrean veteran who joined the struggle in 1972 & held a key finance position at independence. He shared a startling claim: the EPLF had $2 billion when it entered Asmara & annual economic activity, including illicit financial flows totals $15 billion.

“ For over 35 years, Eritreans have faced arbitrary arrests and detentions, often without charges or trial. They have been denied access to family, legal counsel, and judicial protection,” the experts said. “In hundreds of cases, the fate and whereabouts of persons deprived of their liberty remain unknown, inflicting ongoing anguish and distress on their families and communities.”

Yes, Ethiopia needs a port, but not by attacking Eritrea! Those pushing such a conflict are no doubt desk jockeys who have never experienced a real war and are willing to peddle their fury at the cost of others' lives while they risk nothing.

Djibouti has turned its strategic location into a massive geopolitical shield. That is why #Ethiopia never dare threaten #Djibouti by invoking non-sense historical, geographical, and legal arguments to claim any part or wholly of Djibout's maritime zone.
Ethiopia targets #Eritrea because, unlike Djibouti, Eritrea stands entirely isolated. Having suffered enormously for three decades under a totalitarian tyranny, the nation has been left economically degraded, severely depopulated, while actively pursuing a disastrous policy of regional destabilization. Ultimately, these profound internal vulnerabilities are attracting vultures and predators.

#PFDJ regime never consults #Eritreans on war, peace or national development. No public consent, no accountability, no democratic mandate. Yet when it needs money suddenly the diaspora matters! ERITREAN DIASPORA: WAKE UP! Stop financing your own oppression. Say no funding for war! #BlueRevolution #EBRF #NomorePFDJTerror @PressTeddy
Is this being brought up to show case #JohnBlack's courage, integrity, honesty and camaraderie or to use his words as evidence to highlight the quality of the indiv he is speaking about - a narrative ebrf puppets are peddling nowadays ? #Eritrea
In all venues where #BlueWaves went to peacefully protest against pfdj's #TransnationalRepression and its use of events disguised as festivals to raise funds, social control and spread propaganda, they never initiate violence. Only responded when met with attackers by the regime organized hooligans and loyalists.
Look at the following declaration 👇and compare it with how #JohnBlack used to defended at least some of the indiv in that list 👇 that put out that declaration wearing their Human Rights Defenders hat. They even went so far as label the mvt's actions as violence.
Yet, following the unjust imprisonment of many (incl John Black), the human rights defenders turn around and took charge of the very mass movement they denounced and declared they had no links to it. ebrf is casted out of the #BlueWaves #BlueRevolution.
However, ebrf does not represent the spirit and objectives of #BlueRevolution. In fact, they sit on completely opposite ends of the spectrum. In the financial world, such maneuver is known as a hostile take over.

Whenever dictator Isaias Afewerki and his coward regime bans people from freely traveling to the countryside that means people in the countryside are suffering. Same "out-of-sight" tactic Isaias Afewerki's uncle Solomon Abraha along with Haile Selassie employed in Wollo in 1973.

The #Eritrean regime resorts to the people only when it is cornered. Since the escalation of the conflict with #Ethiopia, regime agents have been conducting seminars inside #Eritrea and abroad to mobilise people against Ethiopian aggression. Following some western countries banning the regime from collecting taxes, it has become shy to ask for donations publicly and does it clandestinely. In such a meeting in the city of Keren, in Eritrea, a couple days ago; those present were warned not to hide their sons to prevent them from being sent to the front lines, with an explicit threat that anyone found hiding would be shot!

Unbelievable the stories that are coming out of Sudan by Sudanese journalists. If only international media were as interested in these stories as they were the geopolitical intrigue, we might be closer to a strong response. middleeasteye.net/news/there…
