I can finally talk about Mass Effect Universe. Since Bioware closed I can now reveal that I was part of the Mass Effect Council, saw what BioWare was building, and provided feedback during development. • Set 600+ years after the Reaper War • You play as a customizable N7 agent • Instead of being a walking gun rack, you're a cross between John Wick and James Bond • Shepard's legacy preserved, regardless of your ending • A galaxy divided into three major factions • Humanity, Krogan, Batarians, and more allied together • Council races forming their own alliance • The Geth emerging as a third superpower • A galactic Cold War instead of another Reaper style invasion with a shadowy adversary • Geth-built megastructures • Connections between the Milky Way and Andromeda • Experimental technology implanted in you as a unique point of difference • Hacking and manipulating the environment • See through walls, identify systems, remotely trigger hazards and more • Handcrafted missions like ME1-3 • But with Hitman-style freedom in how you complete them • Brutal close-range executions • Squadmates who can clash with each other • Romance wasn't being sanitised • Liara returns - now an incredibly powerful Asari Matriarch From what I saw, BioWare was making Mass Effect for us, the fans, not for people who don't exist. It looked incredible. And now we may never get to play it. Find out more here: youtu.be/ZOWrTNazZxM #SaveMassEffect

The card recognition model behind RiftSight is now open source as riftsight-vision! It includes two small models that find and name cards in videos/streams, labels + a labeling tool, a browser runtime, and a guide so you can create your own model and extension for your card game. Code: github.com/ryangswe/riftsigh… Demo: ryangswe.github.io/riftsight… #Riftbound #RiftboundTCG #TCG
Can't read that card? Hover it. RiftSight 0.12.0 lets you hover cards in Riftbound videos and streams, including new cards from Radiance! 🎮 Play on @PlayRiftatlas: live deck tracker 📺 Watch: hover cards in videos and streams 🎥 Stream: share your deck with viewers with RiftSight #Riftbound

I'm pretty sure reducing the number of rares per pack and adding functionally unique event pack promos is the wrong direction to take in the 2026 TCG industry but what do I know

The games we've long wanted, which didn't exist because they'd cost several times more to make than they'd earn back, will soon become possible. As will the games developers wanted to build, but couldn't with the resources available. It'll be a new golden age of gaming.

Sony wouldn't do it. So the community did. 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲: 𝗚𝗢𝗧𝗬 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is now live on 𝗙𝗶𝘁𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀 as a standalone PC release. Not an emulator setup. This is a pre-configured, 1-click repack of the 𝗯𝗯𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 (𝘃𝟭.𝟵.𝟲) native PC recompilation. What’s included in the package: • 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗖 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Runs directly on x86-64 hardware via Vulkan • 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗚𝗢𝗧𝗬 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁: Base game (v1.09) + The Old Hunters DLC • 𝟲𝟬+ 𝗙𝗣𝗦 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱: Bye-bye 30 FPS frame-pacing lag • 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: Multiplayer features integrated • 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗴: Pre-patched and ready to launch After 10 years of waiting, Yharnam is finally playable on PC without touching a console. Apparently, the original Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer is back for the Legendary Edition. You can even import your old progress if you're on PC. Absolutely insane. Never thought I'd see the day. Link: nexusmods.com/masseffectlege… #MassEffect #bioware

Hi! I'm a developer of Halo 5: Reforged working on specifically improving the PC experience. I implemented custom lua scripting today. Essentially, you can code any gamemode/script you want and now run it inside Halo 5. Here's an example of a "superjump" script for example:

Wow. The inevitable expectation is that these decompilation projects would eventually be shut down by higher-ups and yet Asha has seriously broken the mold here. "These are unmistakably good outcomes for players, even when (and sometimes because) they challenge our existing business models." I'm shocked because this feels like the absolutely correct decision in regards to what is good for the players. Finding a way to make this work for both players and developers is the most sensible decision and I'm just GENUINELY shocked to see this actually happen. Asha really is great.
Today we're standing up XBOX LABS (labs.xbox.com). Here is the note that I sent to the team: Team, The first video games emerged some 75 years ago. In the time since, there have been booms and busts, but every year there are more great games to play, more devices to play them, and best of all, more people than ever playing. That growth helped make XBOX what it is today, and we've helped shape the industry in return, from bringing hard drives to consoles and online gaming through Xbox Live to Game Pass and cloud gaming, alongside franchises that have brought millions of people together. In recent weeks, we've seen games rapidly decompiled and rebuilt to run on hardware they were never originally designed to support. Windows PC builds have been translated to run on Apple Silicon or ported to run inside a browser through WebAssembly and WebGPU, the latter now approaching 90% global browser support. Perhaps more surprisingly, we've seen many of the biggest games in the world have been remixed into the source code of another. These experiments challenge long-held assumptions about our industry: the tether between software and hardware, the boundary between creation and play, and how people discover and experience games. While it is hard to predict the future of gaming, it is easy to see the possibilities in making great games easier to access, giving old games new life and allowing more players to become creators and co-creators. These are unmistakably good outcomes for players, even when (and sometimes because) they challenge our existing business models. To explore these possibilities, I’ve asked Scott to stand-up XBOX LABS, a small group of game makers, engineers and scientists whose job is to turn emerging ideas into things our players and developers can experience. We'll build in the open, learn from what people do, and measure success by whether more people are playing and creating. I think XBOX has an important role to play here. Coding became the first major workload for agents because they can write, run, and test software. Games share many of those same properties, and people spend more than 72 billion hours a year playing XBOX games, roughly five times the estimated time spent writing code worldwide. We've spent 25 years learning how to make great games, and I want our game makers to help shape what these new technologies make possible. As we learn, we’ll share the tools we build with developers across the industry, just as we always have. Our priorities aren't changing. We remain committed to the 4Cs, to making great games, to our hardware and to being responsible stewards of IP and the communities built around it. LABS gives us a way to explore new technology that is game design led without abandoning the work already underway. Asha
