Great 1st day of school. We were honored to welcome: Dr. Wright (and MSDE colleagues) Dr.Dyson, Dr. Sirgo, Mr. Louers-Phillips, Mr. Rose, Ms. Gallagher, Ms.Monier, Ms. Fitzwater, etc. who came to visit NMMS today. We enjoyed showing off the great work of our staff and students !
Ms. Banes had students give peer feedback, after they conducted a gallery-walk. They had to give at least one “grow” and “glow”. She modeled how to give effective feedback before students attempted it. Great use peer input and coaching.
Olivia and Tara were working together to take action photos of their ducks in Mr. Poisal’s Digital Media Arts class. Student projects demonstrated a high level of creativity and excitement. They are all experts at editing their pictures.

Mr. Haines recorded his 7th grade Band class’ performance and then they listened back to their own performance. They collectively assessed their performance, using a rubric to guide them. Great use of real-time feedback to drive improvement! #NMMS
When Mr L was a band teacher at WFMS, I used to say (metaphorically) that he was a Rock Star. Now he’s literally a Rock Star. Thanks for taking time off the tour to substitute teach at NMMS! Come by anytime 😁
Bittersweet day here at NMMS. We are so grateful that we have had Mrs.Weeks for 2 years as our utility person (IA, Secretary and basically anything else we asked of her). You are incredibly lucky to get her UHS 🥲
Huge shout-out to Mr. Hannaby- the best USS in the county! This man is dedicated and the only person that I know who walks faster than me. Many thanks to Ms. Dubbs and Ms.G who helped make Chromebook distribution so smooth today.
Today was the last day of Red Ribbon week. There were so many great displays of school pride- and so many great costumes! This doppelgänger was by far the best one 😎
We had a great turnout for yesterday’s Open House! Thanks to all of our amazing staff who came out to take part. Too bad I only remembered to snap one quick picture of some of them in action…
Huge thanks to Mrs.Nelson, our SGA and all the parents and staff who showed up tonight for our 8th grade dance! Everything looks great 😎

We had a great turnout for our incoming 6th grade family presentation! There were over 125 families who attended. We’ve heard great things about this incoming class from each of our 4 feeder ES😀

Today we discussed choices and consequences in small group. They concluded that consequences don’t have to be negative- we make good choices and then can achieve good results!
