The Wikipedia community has built a tool that makes it possible to embed our interactive Our World in Data charts right in any Wikipedia page.
I have always admired Wikipedia and all the people contributing to it. And I'm very happy that our work now can get used this way!

"If submitting a housing permit application on the same day, the average aspiring homeowner who wants to build in Miami, San Francisco or Boston — the cities with the longest permitting times — will still be stuck in paperwork when the average aspiring homeowner in Indianapolis, El Paso, Colorado Springs, Phoenix or Fort Worth is moving into a completed home."

"Eliminating tariffs" is Democratic voters' second-favorite concrete step to reduce their costs.
And yet, too many Democrats are bashful about bashing tariffs - because organized labor likes them.

When my book came out, everyone asked if Trump was going to change the direction of US trade policy. "Too soon to say" I'd say because of status quo bias. Now Trump made "tariff" one of the most hated words in politics, says @greg_ip wsj.com/economy/trade/how-ta… via @WSJ (1/2)

How many Americans actually just straight-up starve to death?
In the latest data, from 2024, there were 22 cases.
And not even one of them was about poverty making it unaffordable to obtain food.
How many Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck? How many are starving?
The answer to both questions is--despite what you might have heard from the news media--not many.

If actual socialism does ever take hold in America, it'll be Donald J Trump who got the ball rolling:

No matter what poverty line you choose, the share below it has declined globally.

The government's equity portfolio of 36 companies has a distressingly weak legal foundation, says Cato’s @scottlincicome.
None of the cited laws expressly authorize federal ownership stakes in private companies. #CatoRFE

Nearly two-thirds of builders said immigration enforcement is affecting their labor force, up from 23% in March and 13% a year ago, according to a September John Burns Research & Consulting survey.
“We’re almost dead in the water because our workforce is gone,” said Scott Brannock, president of Jacksonville-based Tidewater Homes and the Northeast Florida Builders Association.
“We have national builders who are missing projections, losing hundreds of thousands of dollars because they have slabs sitting on the ground and no one to frame.”
