The abuse is obvious… we must stop these people from behaving like mini Mogadishu war lords. Virginians of all backgrounds and colors deserve better.
In June 2020, a crowd gathered in Portsmouth, Virginia to deface and dismantle a Confederate monument—with State Senator Louise Lucas amongst them. Lucas is captured on police body worn camera telling officers on scene “I’m Senator Louise Lucas. I know I’m in disguise, but they are going to put some paint on this thing. You can not arrest them. You need to call Dr. Patton (the city manager), because they are going to do it. You can’t stop them. This is city property.” When Angela Greene, then police chief, told protesters to stop their vandalism and alerted Lucas that they were “not authorized to be on the property,” Lucas replied “They are now. They are now. This is city-owned property.” Greene assured Lucas that she had, in fact, just spoken to the city manager and confirmed that no such action was permitted. Chief Greene refused to back down. She later launched an investigation and announced felony charges (including injury to a monument and conspiracy) against Senator Lucas and several others for their lawlessness that day. Shockingly, the felony charges against Senator Lucas and the other defendants were dismissed later that year... And Chief Greene was wrongfully terminated for upholding the law. LELDF was proud to support Greene's lawsuit against the city and various officials—and though her suit was not successful, it is undeniable that she was severely wronged for standing up for law and order.

Oh wow. This is bad. We must stop the Democrat racism and corruption.
🚨 ALLEGED CON ARTIST: Who is Louise Lucas? Let me share with you the backstory on a self-described "greedy" lawmaker who waged a war on merit, denigrating Asian American parents and families, and is now indicted for illegally selling marijuana and cheating to create "generational wealth" The text that indicts Virginia state Sen. Louise Lucas in a new Justice Department indictment announced by US Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel against her for alleged money laundering is this one: 💰 “this is our last chance at generational wealth . . . I’ve got too old to not be greedy.” The words she allegedly later said: 💰 “I got to get the license and I got to get the money rolling because I want — I want to make generation, create some generational wealth.” Lucas is an important window into the choices that everyone faces: whether to advance in life through merit or through cheating. Read our coverage of the indictment here: 'FOR PEOPLE WHO LOOK LIKE ME' I know the day that I learned the name of Virginia state Sen. Louise Lucas: Feb. 18, 2021. WATCH the video I've shared her to see Lucas in action. She was supporting Virginia state Sen. Scott Surovell and other Democratic lawmakers as they waged a wider battle to remove merit-based admissions to America's former No. 1 high school, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, and other governor schools. Their bill: HB 2305. There were some 20 mostly immigrant parents waiting to speak in the online waiting room: parents from India, China and elsewhere, who saw merit as the only path they have to realizing the American Dream and maybe if they were lucky creating "generational wealth." Lucas wouldn't let the parents speak. I was watching the debate from the waiting room. My son was attending the school at the time, and I was writing about the efforts of parents to challenge the new admissions policy, eliminating the merit admissions test, as racist. A federal judge Conrad Hilton later supported the parents and the Coalition for TJ and called the new admissions policy "patently unconsitutional" and racist. The ruling was overturned on appeal and the US Supreme Court wouldn't hear the appeal but is now set to hear a similar case from Montgomery County, Md. Then-state Sen. Chap Petersen was opposing that effort as an effort to target the school's mostly Asian American student population. As Petersen spoke about TJ, he noted, “Its population is 80 percent minority.” Lucas, who is black, interrupted him and said, “Sen. Petersen, for people who look like me, I would appreciate it if you would put a better definition to minority, because I know you’re not talking about people who look like me, so could you please, please be more specific?” Petersen, whose wife is Korean American woman, said: “The population is about 70 percent Asian.” Then he added: “People who look like my kids. My kids.” Lucas responded: "Mm-hmm." The war on merit succeeded and TJHSST has plummeted in academic standards and national rankings and is now the FORMER No. 1 high school. Current Virginia Lt. Governor Ghazala Hashmi demonized "parents" and alleged they were racist and supported Lucas and Surovell. When Lucas lost the vote, she said: "We will overcome one day." 🔗 This is the full 2018 debate for anyone who wants to see Lucas and her war on merit: youtube.com/watch?v=swmnMKMa… FAST FORWARD: "GREED" vs. MERIT Federal prosecutors allege one Lucas, used her political office as part of a years-long operation to sell marijuana, launder the proceeds — and ultimately turn Virginia’s legalization of recreational marijuana into what she allegedly called “generational wealth," not through merit but by allegedly cheating the system. The 45-page federal indictment names names: ❌ Louise Lucas ❌ Her daughter Lisa Lucas-Burke ❌ Her daughter Theresa Lucas-Lamb ❌ Her grandson Ryan Eichelberger ❌ Businessman Prince Albert William Hudson III ❌ Businessman Carlton Upton Jr. ❌ Businesswoman Tameka Johnson Prosecutors allege the “Lucas Enterprise” operated from at least 2019 -- two years before the debate on merit -- and pursued two intertwined objectives: ❌ Distributing marijuana ❌ Using Lucas’ political influence to shape Virginia marijuana policy and obtain valuable recreational licenses Here is the extraordinary chronology prosecutors laid out, in their own words. RISE TO POWER Lucas was elected to the Virginia Senate in 1991 and rose to become chair of the powerful Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee and Senate President Pro Tempore. According to the indictment, her family operated The Cannabis Outlet in Portsmouth. 💰 Her daughter Lisa Lucas-Burke allegedly handled business affairs and attended meetings. 💰 Her daughter Theresa Lucas-Lamb allegedly managed the store. 💰 Grandson Ryan Eichelberger allegedly worked in its day-to-day operations. Prosecutors say Lucas was explicitly warned. After a senior law-enforcement officer was hired in 2022, the indictment says he warned Lucas that selling marijuana was illegal and “was going to get her in trouble one day.” At another meeting, the officer allegedly asked why, “given that she was a state senator and a wealthy woman,” she would engage in criminal behavior. According to prosecutors, Lucas didn't answer. By then, prosecutors allege marijuana was already moving through the family business. 2022: 'FREEDOM IS DOPE' In early 2022, prosecutors say an alleged supplier identified ICC #1 contributed $15,000 to the 420ish Unity Festival, partly organized by Lucas. The receipt allegedly described the payment as: “Freedom is Dope.” Then, on April 19, 2022, Lucas and daughter Lisa Lucas-Burke allegedly met ICC #1 at Lucas’ office. The indictment says that between June and July 2022, an alleged supplier identified as ICC #1 delivered between THREE AND FIVE POUNDS of marijuana to The Cannabis Outlet. Lucas allegedly paid between $3,500 and $4,000 IN CASH. 'VIRGINIA FREEDOM LIFE' According to the indictment, Lucas asked ICC #1 whether he was a member of law enforcement before discussing marijuana prices. That same day, daughter Lucas-Burke allegedly wrote a $6,600 check to ICC #1 from Virginia Freedom Life. It bounced. Lucas allegedly replaced it with another $6,600 check from Backyard Entertainment. By fall 2022, prosecutors allege the business was operating at scale. Between fall 2022 and early 2023, ICC #2 allegedly sold The Cannabis Outlet “multi-pound quantities of marijuana totaling approximately 100 pounds” for $100,000-$150,000. Prosecutors say Lucas, through daughter Theresa Lucas-Lamb, paid $52,000 in checks and the remainder IN CASH. Then came the texts. 'THE LUCAS LADIES' On Oct. 3, 2022, prosecutors say Lucas texted the alleged supplier: “Good morning … this is to confirm the time for our meeting at the store today. I am so excited and looking forward to seeing you” And: “we (The Lucas Ladies) love doing business with you” 'I'M GOING TO NEED MORE FLOWER' Daughter Theresa Lucas-Lamb allegedly texted with the supplier about the mechanics of marijuana sales. One message described packaging and selling “half ounces (14)” and “ounces (28).” Another allegedly said: “you can keep going on the blend if you can’t keep up with sativa and indica.” Days later: “Good morning. I’m going to need more flower.” The money trail continued. The indictment lists payment after payment from The Cannabis Outlet to Prince Albert William Hudson III, whom prosecutors describe as a marijuana supplier. 💰 December 2023: more than $21,000. 💰 January 2024: more than $26,000. 💰 February: more than $29,000. 💰 March: $129,000. 💰 April: $132,000. 💰 May: $125,000. 💰 June: $123,000. 💰 July: more than $79,000. 💰 August: $91,000. 💰 September: $67,000. And investigators weren't merely watching. 💰 On Oct. 4, 2024, and Oct. 18, 2024, the indictment says law enforcement made CONTROLLED PURCHASES of marijuana from The Cannabis Outlet. More controlled buys followed. 💰 On May 5, 2025, an undercover officer allegedly bought 10.2 grams of marijuana from The CBD Shoppe. 💰 By 2025, prosecutors allege payments continued flowing to Hudson and another alleged supplier, ICC #1. The indictment records tens of thousands of dollars month after month. Meanwhile, daughter Theresa Lucas-Lamb allegedly received a series of $2,500 payments from an Agri-Carter account controlled by Hudson. Then investigators intercepted a shipment. On Aug. 13, 2025, Norfolk police seized SEVEN POUNDS OF MARIJUANA allegedly shipped to High-N-Wellness in Norfolk. According to prosecutors, payments and marijuana transactions nevertheless continued. By October 2025, law enforcement was buying directly from The Cannabis Outlet again. 💰 Oct. 23, 2025: controlled purchase of ½ ounce. 💰 Oct. 31, 2025: controlled purchase of one ounce. During that transaction, prosecutors say Eichelberger told the undercover officer another load of “product” was due Nov. 3. 'THE ELECTION' Then came a text prosecutors put directly into the indictment. On Nov. 15, 2025, Lucas allegedly wrote about “the election” and told ICC #2: “you know I will be carrying the legislation as the Chief Co-patron.” She allegedly proposed sitting down to discuss “how about we begin with you sending at least a good faith payment of the money you owe me…” 'LIST OF STUFF FOR YOU TO TRY' In January 2026, prosecutors say the operation moved directly into Lucas’ legislative office. Grandson Ryan Eichelberger allegedly began texting businesswoman Tameka Johnson asking for “a lil have a list of stuff for you to try & get for next time.” Then: “can you get the COAs for the flower and other products?” 💰 On Jan. 30, 2026, according to prosecutors, Lucas asked ICC #2 to come to her office at the Capitol complex in Richmond. 💰 There, the indictment says Lucas provided “partial repayment” of money ICC #2 had paid for an interest in Mama’s Chicken, LLC. 💰 Then Lucas allegedly asked ICC #2 to provide marijuana “samples.” 💰 The next day, Jan. 31, 2026, prosecutors say Lucas and ICC #2 met AGAIN — this time at her legislative office in Portsmouth. Lucas allegedly called in daughter Lisa Lucas-Burke and grandson Ryan Eichelberger. They discussed sources of marijuana. When Eichelberger asked whether the cannabis was hemp, prosecutors say ICC #2 replied: “[I]t’s not hemp, it’s THC.” 'GET GENERATIONAL WEALTH' Then prosecutors allege Lucas explained the endgame. After the conversation, Lucas and ICC #2 allegedly continued discussing marijuana and marijuana licensing. According to the indictment, Lucas said obtaining a license was a way for her to: “get generational wealth and this is my last chance.” The alleged undercover operation kept going. 💰 Feb. 3, 2026: ICC #1 allegedly arrived at The Cannabis Outlet with “a large bag” from his vehicle and took it inside. 💰 Feb. 5, 2026: controlled purchase of 69.5 grams from The CBD Shoppe. 💰 Same day: controlled purchase of 116 grams from High-N-Wellness. 💰 On Feb. 9, 2026, prosecutors say Lucas called ICC #2 and discussed the recreational-marijuana legislation pending in the General Assembly. The indictment quotes Lucas: “this is our last chance at generational wealth . . . I’ve got too old to not be greedy.” Two days later, law enforcement allegedly observed ICC #2 throwing a white trash bag into a dumpster. Investigators recovered it. The indictment says the bag contained marijuana packaging bearing “the odor of marijuana.” March 2026: prosecutors allege the political and business sides increasingly converged. Lucas allegedly told grandson Eichelberger and businesswoman Tameka Johnson to find additional marijuana sources. Then, prosecutors say, Lucas telephoned another Virginia legislator and explained why she needed a marijuana license. The alleged quote is stunning: “I got to get the license and I got to get the money rolling because I want — I want to make generation, create some generational wealth.” She allegedly continued: “I need to be covered under his (UPTON’s) um, hemp license.” On March 11, 2026. prosecutors say Lucas participated in another call with Virginia legislators and daughter Lisa Lucas-Burke about recreational marijuana licenses. Lucas allegedly said: “we trying to disqualify somebody [UCC #2] until he pays me back my money.” March 31, 2026: Businessman Carlton Upton Jr. allegedly met Lucas at her Portsmouth office. According to the indictment, Upton told Lucas: “I only got five licenses, but you know what I mean, you first, so I need to talk to you before I make any decisions that affect you.” 💰 April 23, 2026: prosecutors say Lucas called a member of the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority and asked whether there was anything the official could do for her. 💰 According to the indictment, Lucas said she needed “to invest in something that — that can help me generate some uh, generational wealth for my family.” Then came the raids. 💰 May 6, 2026: Federal search warrant at The Cannabis Outlet — marijuana recovered. 💰 Federal search warrant at The CBD Shoppe — marijuana recovered. 💰 Federal search warrant at Hudson’s Exotic World in Danville — marijuana recovered. 💰 July 10, 2026: Law enforcement returned to The Cannabis Outlet for another controlled purchase. 💰 Agents bought two strains labeled “Sativa” and “Indica.” According to the indictment: Both tested positive for marijuana. The grand jury ultimately charged an alleged racketeering conspiracy involving Lucas, daughter Lisa Lucas-Burke, businessman Prince Albert William Hudson III, grandson Ryan Eichelberger, daughter Theresa Lucas-Lamb and businessman Carlton Upton Jr. Prosecutors say the alleged enterprise sought to obtain and illegally distribute marijuana AND procure “generational wealth” for its members. The indictment goes further. Prosecutors allege the enterprise used business entities to disguise marijuana proceeds and used Lucas’ political influence “to insulate the Lucas Enterprise from state law enforcement actions.” They also allege her influence was used to pursue marijuana licenses that could financially benefit the enterprise. Prosecutors describe Lucas as the alleged “leader of the enterprise.” They accuse her of approving and directing criminal activities, arranging marijuana acquisition and distribution, supervising laundering of marijuana proceeds and using her political influence in an effort to shape Virginia legislation for herself and her family. The indictment contains EIGHT COUNTS, including allegations involving: ❌ Racketeering conspiracy ❌ Conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana ❌ Money laundering conspiracy ❌ Honest-services fraud conspiracy ❌ Maintaining drug-involved premises ❌ Possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime ❌ Wire fraud The charges vary by defendant. One of the most consequential allegations isn't simply that marijuana was illegally sold. Prosecutors allege Lucas used her elected office to advance the financial interests of herself, her family and associates as Virginia debated creation of a potentially lucrative recreational marijuana market. The honest-services count alleges a scheme to deprive Virginians of Lucas’ “intangible right” to her honest services. The indictment alleges Lucas invested money with ICC #2 in an entity positioned to benefit from marijuana licensing, did not report that interest on required Statements of Economic Interests, and later demanded a partial $100,000 repayment while continuing to work to direct a license to ICC #2. These are allegations. An indictment is not proof of guilt, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. That's the position that Sen. Surovell, the lawmaker who pushed the legislation to remove merit from Virginia's No. 1 high school, is taking as he stands by her in support against the indictments. The government has now laid out, in extraordinary detail, its theory of how an alleged marijuana business, a family network, money and political power converged over years. And prosecutors repeatedly return to the phrases they attribute to Lucas herself: creating "generational wealth" by being "greedy." I hope the telling of this story will give you a wider window into why this case captures not only the crossroads that a politician faces of success through merit or through cheating but also the questions that a nation faces: to go down the path that this lawmaker allegedy supported of shortcuts and dishonor or to choose a path of honor, merit and hard work. In 2021, Lucas silenced parents who believed in merit and hard work. Today, in 2026, she is facing serious charges for violating "honest-services" laws, money laundering, wire fraud and racketeering. In which path do you believe?

Dead for 22 years and Abigail gives him his right to vote back. It’s unbelievable!!!?!?!? We have to stop this incompetence and abuse.
Gross incompetence! A Virginia family reports the administration sent a voting rights restoration letter to a man who died 22 YEARS AGO! Even worse? It was addressed to “Shakey”- his street nickname, NOT his legal name! Who is verifying these records?
