Some Just War theories are bad theories.
e.g. βNothing is lost with peace. Everything can be lost with war.β cannot explain why the French peace treaty in 1940 was wrong.
e.g. βGod does not hear the prayers of those who wage warβ cannot explain St. Joan the Maid.

Well, another Cardinal has come out with a, shall we say, puzzling take on evangelization.
A few years ago, Cardinal AmΓ©rico Aguiar, at the time auxiliary bishop of Lisbon, said that he and the other organizers of World Youth Day in his hometown had no interest in converting anyone to Christ.
Now Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco of Algeria has opined that βthe Church is not there to convertβ and βChristians should approach other religions through fraternity rather than seeking conversions.β
Excuse me, butβ¦what?
Last time I checked, the Founder said, βAll authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.β Sure sounds like conversion to me.
When St. Paul came to Corinth or Athens or Thessalonica, his purpose was not to listen or to form a discussion group but rather to declare an unnerving message: the euangelion (glad tidings) that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead.
So impassioned is he for this work that he says, βI have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospelβ (1 Cor. 9:22); and βIf I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and woe to me if I do not proclaim the gospelβ (1 Cor. 9:16)!
Moreover, the entire thrust of the Second Vatican Council was toward bringing the Light of Christ to the peoples of the world (Lumen Gentium). And this missionary Γ©lan has given rise in the last few decades to the idea of a βnew evangelization,β which is to say, a fresh declaration of the Lordship of Christ.
Quite obviously, no one thinks that this work of evangelization should be done in a brow-beating, overbearing, or disrespectful manner (proselytization), but for Godβs sake, letβs not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
If I really thought that the Church does not exist to bring people to Christ, then I would resign and get an honest job.
Someone confuses the world of things for the world of ideasβ¦
Calling NFP a loophole in morality is like calling air travel a loophole in physics. Itβs not a loophole when it is literally how the body works.
It would be difficult to find something more antisemitic than this statement by the Chicago archdiocese in which they imply that supporting child murder is central to Jewish identity. That is a lie. There are many pro-life Jews.

Now Vatican officials have joined in on the slop apologetics. The pilgrimage organizers evidently asked for too much ***AND*** too little. A real Goldilocks situation.
A Mass? No
A Procession? No
Adoration? No
The correct answer was some secret 4th thing.

βThey have to prove Mary took a lifelong vow of virginity.β
Luke 1:34-
βHow will this be, since I do not know man?β
There is no way to interpret tht verse other than that Mary had already taken a vow of virginity.
Catholics have a LOT of explaining to do.
They have to prove Mary took a lifelong vow of virginity.
They have to prove Joseph also took a vow of celibacy.
They have to prove Joseph was a widower.
They have to prove Joseph had a previous wife.
They have to prove that supposed wife gave birth to children before she died.
They have to prove Jesusβ brothers were actually His cousins.
Or prove they were His stepbrothers.
They have to explain why Paul explicitly calls James βthe Lordβs brotherβ (Galatians 1:19).
They have to explain why Scripture names Jesusβ brothers and mentions His sisters (Matthew 13:55β56).
And after all that, they still have to prove Mary remained a virgin for the rest of her life.
Thatβs an awful lot of claims to defend a doctrine Scripture never explicitly teaches.
I underestimated the slop apologetics:
βThe pilgrimage was so unorganized they only made the request 2 months ago and also they asked for too much and also thereβs already an event coincidentally scheduled for that day, the whole day, basically the giant basilica will be closedβ
Such bishops never mind adding badly written prayers for their fundraising campaigns. Their actual problem is with the supernaturalism implicit in the St. Michael prayer.
Iβve heard some things from bishops over the years. But βit is not appropriate to add a prayer to the most perfect prayer, which is the Mass,β is an absolute new one for me.

Slop Apologetics:
Q. "The Vatican allowed a LGBTQABCXYZ group in St. Peter's"
R. "The Vatican allows lots of groups to come pray."
Q. "The Vatican banned the Summorum Pilgrimage from St. Peter's"
R. "They can ban whomever they wish from the basilica."
This is why the true Church of Jesus Christ is the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church in union with the successor of St. Peter.
When no bishop has supreme authority, then some government will.
The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has officially mandated the rebaptism of Ukrainian Orthodox Christians and banned them the use of the Ukrainian language in divine services.
On October 22, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church approved a document titled "Guidelines for the Reception of Individuals from Ukrainian Schismatic Structures Wishing to Join the Russian Orthodox Church." It applies to people in Russian-occupied territories who were previously affiliated with the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church (UAOC), the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC-KP), or the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).
The document outlines three procedures for joining the ROC. Notably, it stipulates that individuals baptized within the OCU, UOC-KP, or UAOC must undergo the Sacrament of Baptism again to join the ROC. Different rules apply to those originally baptized within the ROC, the Roman Catholic Church, or a Protestant denomination.
Regarding the accession of entire congregations to the ROC, the document states that such a community may not demand a distinct liturgical order or a special administrative status. Furthermore, the use of any language other than Church Slavonic in divine services is prohibitedβeven though the ROC elsewhere permits the use of various other languages, ranging from English to Japanese.

Coming soon to Hallow.
I intend the St. Michael prayer in order to disdain their work. I intend it to destroy the work of countless priests, some well-intentioned, others wicked, who stole from us our heritage. I intend to restore that heritage so that the next generation doesn't have to.

Roger Scruton recalls the exact moment he became a conservative during the 1968 Paris riots:
βWhen I looked down the street and saw all these rowdy students throwing stones at policemen, I just said to myself, βWhatever they believe, I believe the opposite.ββ
