๐จ THIS IS A POLITICAL WATERSHED
Former chancellor Rachel Reeves has declared:
โBritainโs future lies in the European Union.โ
Reeves helped write Labourโs 2024 manifesto, which ruled out EU membership. She now says Brexit has made Britain โpoorer, weaker and less secureโ and explicitly welcomes Andy Burnhamโs leadership in reopening the debate.
Full EU membership is now one of the options being considered by the prime minister, alongside the Single Market and Customs Union.
This is no longer a fringe chat. It is taking place at the very top of government, ahead of the crucial UKโEU summit on November 20.
Britain cannot repair the damage of Brexit through tiny technical adjustments. We need the courage to confront what Brexit has done to our economy, security, food system and international influence.
The argument for rejoining has begun and this time we must win it. ๐ฌ๐ง๐ช๐บ

@andyburnhamโs declaration that โBrexit has done more harm than goodโ was not cautious wording devised by officials.
๐ฎ He wrote it himself. There was no prior Cabinet discussion, civil servants were stunned and he then deliberately went further, confirming that Britain could โgo all the wayโ and rejoin the EU.
Thiswas a Prime Minister personally breaking the Brexit omertร .
The reasons are now unavoidable. Starmerโs red lines placed a glass ceiling over growth. Britain faces exclusion from โMade in Europeโ, threatening manufacturing and our car industry. In an unstable world of Trump, Putin and trade wars, our economy, food, energy and national security depend upon rebuilding our place in Europe.
Public opinion has moved too: 59% now support rejoining against 32% opposed. Even private polling in Burnhamโs Leave-voting Makerfield constituency reportedly shows it has flipped.
Neil Kinnock describes Burnhamโs change as the product of โrealism and patriotismโ. He is right.
Rejoining Europe is not about rerunning 2016. It is about repairing the damage, restoring Britainโs resilience and giving the next generation a future.
