“There’s a war on!” I notice the word ‘war’ increasingly in the Russian press, though officially Moscow still refers to its ‘special military operation’ in Ukraine. In today’s papers: enemies, drone attacks & what may become “the longest investment crisis in modern Russian history.” #ReadingRussia

This is Ken Paxton's mugshot.
He was indicted on 3 felony counts for fraud.
He enriched himself by $27 million in public office.
He was reported to the FBI by his own staff for bribery.
He was impeached by his own party for corruption.
Tomorrow, we will stop him.
"This suggests that his communications team have entirely lost control of the president and what he is doing."

Imagine explaining to a military family that their loved one isn't fighting a real war, just a soft one. Absolutely ridiculous.

Some Brexiters entertain the fantasy that the EU will dissolve. It's a delusion. The EU will continue to exist because trade within Europe would dissolve into chaos if it didn't. Each country would impose its own regulations and standards, making exporting a nightmare. Nations would accuse each other of using their regulations to block their exports. National governments would accuse their neighbours of using low taxes, subsidies and lax environmental and workplace standards to compete unfairly. It would be a disaster. To punish their unfair competitors, nations would put up new trade barriers. Trade would shrink violently, economies would plunge into long and brutal recessions, and populist politicians would blame neighbouring states. We know from the 1930s where that can lead.
On the other hand, the EU's collapse would be great for a Trumpist USA, Russia, and China, which could divide up a weak and fragmented Europe into puppet states and spheres of influence. We could say goodbye to any real sovereignty, and we would learn what it's like to be the victims of imperialism.
That's exactly why Trump, Vance and Putin want to destroy the EU.
So Europe needs an organisation to harmonise regulations and standards, and create a reasonably level economic playing field. To do that requires a bureaucracy and decision-making mechanisms, preferably democratic, rather than behind closed doors.
Brexiters yell that the EU isn't democratic, that's nonsense, but the democracy is distorted by the desire of member states to conduct much of the decision-making at the national government level in the Council of Ministers. Nationalism is why the EU Parliament has limited powers, and why there is no European PM or directly elected President.
The EU is a pretty brilliant compromise between the need for free trade across Europe, the need for effective democratic decision-making and the retention of national sovereignty. Of course many of the people who want the EU to collapse are of an authoritarian disposition, meaning that they can only see compromise and cooperation in terms of domination. – at Brighton, England

A decade on, British businesses are still paying the price of Brexit red tape.
The British Chambers of Commerce says 56% of exporters and 58% of manufacturers want EU customs paperwork and delays removed so they can grow. Firms have adapted, but adaptation hasn’t made the extra costs disappear.
As the summit approaches, ministers must examine the full range of options and follow the evidence. Businesses need a relationship with Europe that lets them trade, invest and grow.

Today, I sent a letter putting New Jersey’s port and terminal operators on notice: importing Russian diesel violates federal law and could carry serious civil and criminal consequences.
New Jersey will not stand by while Donald Trump supports Vladimir Putin at the expense of Americans. Instead of lowering costs, these imports help finance Putin’s war against Ukraine and a campaign of violence and terror that endangers our servicemembers abroad.
As a Navy veteran, I cannot let that stand unchallenged. Our ports must not be complicit.

There’s a tonne of early voting numbers out there- but this, for me, is by far the most revealing. Aligns with what we’re hearing from the ground in Texas with both campaigns. Huge Hispanic turnout, driven, it seems, by ICE.

Maybe you saw Trump's so desperate he's begging Putin for diesel. But listen to this: At the very same time, the White House is brokering the sale of billions in Russian energy assets to people who fund the Trump family and the Trump campaign.

Hi @Nigel_Farage, seems you were happy to meet Paolo Zampolli too. Doesn’t it?
The guy that the House Judiciary Committee investigation stated he was “an active participant” in Jeffery Epstein's alleged sex trafficking.
The guy that the FBI said he arranged a model’s visa before she was recruited to give a massage at Epstein’s house, where Epstein allegedly raped her.
The guy with the civil lawsuit over the alleged drugging and raping of Victoria Drake.
How many times have you, or Reform UK officials met this man?
Hi @andreajenkyns, why did you delete the video of yourself with Paolo Zampoli talking about how you had just had lunch together?
Is it because you realised the House Judiciary Committee investigation stated he was “an active participant” in Jeffery Epstein's alleged sex trafficking?
Or was it that the FBI said he arranged a model’s visa before she was recruited to give a massage at Epstein’s house, where Epstein allegedly raped her?
Or is it the civil lawsuit he’s facing over the alleged drugging and raping of Victoria Drake?
And you think he’s “amazing”.
That’s a lot of promises you’re making there, Mayor.

A lack of spare parts for aircraft due to sanctions was a serious problem for Russia. Trump rushes to Putin’s rescue yet again, while Russia concedes nothing and continues to murder Ukrainian civilians.
The United States has lifted restrictions on the Boeing Corporation’s engagement with the Belarusian national airline, Belavia -Igor Cherginets, Director General of Belavia, as reported by the news agency BelTA.
The U.S. Department of Commerce has granted Boeing authorization to work with the Belarusian airline. "This will allow Belavia to directly obtain spare parts, components, and software for the aircraft currently in its fleet. Furthermore, it paves the way for negotiations regarding the direct acquisition of aircraft from Boeing. It is worth noting that a similar authorization had previously been issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, which provided the technical framework for direct cooperation between Belavia and Boeing. A year ago, the U.S. government issued an authorization that removed all sanctions—specifically political sanctions—against Belavia," the airline’s Director General stated.

“I would like someone to explain to me how one should react to the killing of several dozen passengers at a railway station in Dnipro. How does one react politely to the bombing of cities, to the use of ballistic missiles against thermal power plants? How is one supposed not to protest against this aggressive war, which has already claimed over a million lives?”
