Such a joy to hear Tanika Gupta discussing her brilliant play The Empress, with the wonderful Dr Lesley Nelson-Addy. We loved delving into the play's context with Dr @FloStadt & getting teaching tips from Blue Coat School.
Email [email protected] for the CPD recording

ALT Screenshot from live-streamed session showing still images of all six speakers smiling. In the top left, Dr Lesley-Nelson Addy wears a grey top and headphones; on the right teachers Harmanvinder Panesar, Dale Collett and Naomi Reid sit against a red background showing a handmade red and black display about the play, The Empress. At the bottom left, playwright Tanika Gupta is surrounded by posters and published versions of her plays; at the bottom right Dr Florian Stadtler wears glasses and a white shirt.

That solidarity was returned when Asian women at Kewal Brothers factory (Smethwick) went on strike against an Asian boss who made them work in sweatshop conditions. 150 miners from Staffordshire with barely enough money to feed their families hired coaches to stand in solidarity.

Great event on Islamophobia at the Indian Workers' Association HQ in Handsworth. It was from this very poor Black and Asian community that thousands of pounds were raised to support striking miners in 1984. Funds and food were sent to miners across the Midlands and South Wales.

The working class in Britain is multiracial and multifaith but very rarely is class discussed in these terms. My latest column for @onlinehyphen on the struggles of the South Asian working class — past and present.

We explore the British Indian Army story, contribution to WW1 & WW2. Why it should be taught in every UK School, in this documentary on diversity in curriculum. Almost a million Muslims served in WW2, a disgrace they are often forgotten. #RemembranceSunday
