🇫🇷 Tokenization: France's four financial authorities back tokenised deposits, citing BIS Project Agorá and Pontes
Oct 21, 2026: France's Treasury, AMF, Banque de France and ACPR published their joint 73-page response to the European Commission's MiCA review consultation.
They support euro stablecoins and tokenised bank deposits for cross-border payments and tokenised finance. They say BIS Project Agorá "demonstrates the potential of tokenised deposits to modernise cross-border payments" (p61, p63).
They also expect interbank barriers to ease as wholesale tokenised central bank money arrives "notably through Pontes, expected to become available by the end of 2026" (p63).

12 May 2026 — The @bankofengland 's DLT Innovation Challenge 2025 Final Report defines DLT as a structure "in which multiple participants maintain a synchronised, 😏👉 shared ledger", used to explore settling central bank money on external programmable ledgers. Hedera is listed among the Challenge participants.

The OCC granted final approval for Ripple National Trust Bank on Oct 26. It will manage $RLUSD reserves and offer federally supervised digital asset custody.

🏦 $XRP x BNY: the world's largest custodian brings XRP & RLUSD into custody
On Oct 27, 2026, Ripple and BNY expanded their partnership: BNY's Digital Asset Custody platform now supports XRP and RLUSD, and the bank plans to let clients mint and redeem RLUSD directly. The two will also push tokenized trade finance on the XRP Ledger, starting with a supply chain finance initiative with C2FO.

Sept 23, 2026: In "The digitalisation of money, payments and finance" (Fondazione ResPublica), ECB Executive Board member Piero Cipollone shows today's fragmented capital markets (separate ledgers, siloed CSDs) moving toward a "DLT ecosystem with shared and interoperable ledgers" linking issuers, CSDs, exchanges, CCPs, custodians and investors.
The deck also covers Pontes, Appia and the ECB's role in BIS Project Agorá's "multi-currency shared platform."

Oct 20, 2026: South African Reserve Bank Governor Lesetja Kganyago says TCIB, the SADC regional real-time payment system for lower-value payments, should "operate as a hub-and-spoke model across eight pilot countries" by October 2027. Participants would connect through a common regional hub instead of many bilateral links. Qualifying payments under R100 000 move from SADC-RTGS to TCIB by the end of April 2027. On 24 Sept 2026, UK Finance said Barclays, HSBC UK, Lloyds, Monzo, Nationwide, NatWest and Santander completed the first live customer tokenised-sterling transactions — two remortgage completions and a marketplace purchase — on the GBTD platform built by Quant. April 2026: In its response to the Eurosystem's Appia consultation, AFME, which represents over 150 leading banks, cautions against "the creation of publicly-run ledgers
👉 ('unified ledgers') for assets" and says the Eurosystem "should carefully examine where and how such unified ledgers can add complementary value."
AFME backs market-run DLT networks connected to central bank money through interoperability, and points to Project Agora as an initiative to take into account.
