Pierce Co must do a better job of sharing updates on the lack of ferry service moving now on Day 3 for tomorrow. Sparse comms to impacted neighbors is beyond frustrating. It's a failure on their part and not good govt. 1/2

I went down to the landing late this afternoon and saw community helping each other and offering rides back and forth on private boats. Tomorrow kids will likely miss school, work and appointments and the kind private shuttlers will do their best to help friends out.

This should have been dissolved some time ago and said as much. I also became alarmed when Pierce formed a group to develop a regional approach and even more so when they allocated $1m for a consultant to move in that direction. seattletimes.com/seattle-new…

Good summary. This measure will dampen homes being built in Tacoma where housing is needed. This is coupled with building fees raised by the TCouncil. Tacoma Needs 2,000 Homes a Year. Measure One Makes That Harder. thecascadian.com/tacoma-need… via @The Cascadian

An incredible labor of love over years to install markers for more than 3200 people buried from Western State Hosp. at Ft Steilacoom Park between 1879 and 1953. These folks were doctors, veterans, teachers and from all walks of life. We placed the last marker there on 10.10. 1/2

Volunteers toiled for over two decades, raising $ for markers, to provide dignity to those who passed. I was honored to support their efforts and secure resources to ensure the project was able to be completed.

AG Nick Brown encourages Washingtonians to safely dispose of unneeded medications this Saturday, Oct. 24, for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. “Leaving around old prescriptions you don’t need can easily lead to someone else misusing them, particularly young people,” Brown said. “Safe disposal through National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a great way to remove that temptation.” Learn more: ow.ly/g01x50ZZVbi

It was great to join rail folks as we discussed ways to increase options for passenger and freight rail in WA. Increasing freight options allows product moved easily from one place to another and added passenger routes boosts access and benefits our environment. #winwin
Passenger rail doesn't stop at state lines. Thanks to @RepLeavitt (WA), Rep Nancy Nathanson (OR) and Denise Baum (MT) for joining BSPRA's RUN panel on multistate rail collaboration. Image: Actual conference screenshot, AI-adjusted.

It was a wonderful launch of a new affordable housing project in the 28. It's an example of a partnership between philanthropy, city, state and federal folks coming together to get it done. Housing that offers 2 or 3 bedroom units is a big deal. Proud to fight to get $$$ for it.

That translates to 11k Washingtonians. These folks need access to affordable care in order to prevent further challenges that harm our neighbors and weaken community. #waleg

Grateful to engage with folks last night at the Anderson Is advisory meeting. I've fought hard for ferry issues, getting gas to the Island, infrastructure resources and beyond. I don't support the Pierce Co ferry schedule proposal as introduced as it will be a hardship on folks.

Three years ago nearly 1200 lost their lives including children, women, seniors, concert goers, immigrant workers and many abducted and taken hostage. Murdered, raped, tortured. Communities ravaged. Hamas - a terrorist organization- was responsible for these violent acts.

Safe rooms full of bullet holes, buildings burned, homes destroyed. And 46 Americans killed. Today we recognize the savageness that was deployed by an evil group and honor the lives lived and their families. This piece of rock was rubble of a destroyed home in Kibbutz Be'eri.

The trauma of the families impacted is real and continues through to today. Remembering the horror that folks went through and respecting their significant loss is what today is also about.

Such a great day in TriCities area touring various housing projects with LTG and folks from various housing group from Habitat, Futurewise, commercial builders and beyond. Looking forward to a year of getting good housing policy advanced and build more units across our State.

I support unions and the people who run our critical ferries. And, it needs to be said that the 23+ employees broke the law. The reality is that it's not lawful for a ferry system employee to participate in a work stoppage against the ferry system. 1/2
Ferry commuters from the San Juans to Seattle will face a tough commute—or maybe none at all—due to crew shortages at Washington State Ferries (WSF). Some routes are on one-boat service or entirely canceled. WSF said the issue is a lack of qualified crew due to sick calls. In a series of social media posts, WSF said that 23 engine room employees called in sick Monday morning. Full story here: bit.ly/4rNLSvf #komo #komo4 #komonews #seattle

Disrupting critical service for folks to get to where they need to be for work, medical appts, and so on, is a choice. I loved on San Juan Island as a child for a period of time when my dad served in Vietnam and was in military training. I know what relying on a ferry means. 2/3

We must support the essential work these folks do and compensate fairly and provide the benefits deserved and ensure that stoppage doesn't occur that results a dire disservice to our public. It's simply untentable and illegal.
