Last year, I launched an investigation into Upstate New York’s utility costs. With so many folks doing everything right but still getting hit with massive bills, I knew there was more to the story. 🧵
For nearly two years, I've been on the road, showing up at farms, fire halls, and factory floors.
What I've heard from all of you has driven everything I do in Congress: fighting to lower costs, end corruption, and deliver real results for our neighborhoods.
Now we've put it all on one interactive map. Find your town, see where I've been nearby, and check out what we've delivered together ➡️ arcg.is/0Li5eS1
There’s a direct line between the corruption in Washington and the high costs we’re feeling here at home. That’s why I’ve never taken a dime of corporate PAC money and I’ve introduced legislation to get money out of politics. It’s time for DC to get its priorities straight.
Upstate New Yorkers shouldn’t have to foot the bill for data centers that none of us asked for. My Fair Data Act will make sure that Big Tech has to pay its own way.

No one should have to choose between staying warm or buying groceries. I’m fighting back against the Washington bureaucracy to bring home much needed relief and make sure that no Upstate New Yorker gets left out in the cold.

Upstate parents know how hard it is to find local, affordable childcare. That’s why it was great to stop by Hudson Promise, and meet with local childcare professionals training to open their own centers. They’re taking on this challenge head-on for our kids and working families.
From 42 acres in the 1950s to over 45,000 apple trees today, three generations of the Grout family have built an incredible operation at Golden Harvest Farms in Valatie. Great to tour the farm with Doug and Derek and talk about what we need to do in Washington to secure our agricultural workforce and support local growers.
Elected officials should be focused on serving their communities, not lining their own pockets. That’s why I introduced the Drain the Swamp Act to BAN members of Congress from trading stocks and betting on prediction markets.
If we want a stronger economy, we need to make things in America again — and that starts right here in Upstate New York. Loved visiting Hudson Clothier on Warren Street to talk with Mary Vaughn about the power of selling 100% U.S.-made goods. Small business owners like her are leading the way, and we need to have their backs.
Foreign-owned utility companies like NYSEG & Central Hudson want us to pay more while they rake in record profits and send millions overseas. It's robbery.
I introduced a bill to BAN foreign ownership of utilities, because that money should stay in your pocket and our community, not line the pockets of foreign executives.

Nobody should have to worry about getting lifesaving care simply because they live in a rural community.
It was an honor to help cut the ribbon at Margaretville Hospital’s brand-new heliport! This vital investment will speed up access to care during the moments when every second counts.

Upstate New Yorkers shouldn’t have to choose between staying warm or buying groceries. But as oil prices rise and the utility monopolies continue to jack up their rates, working families just can’t keep up.
I’m calling on the federal government to deliver critical assistance to help folks afford their heating bills, so that no Upstate family has to make these impossible decisions.
If you pay for an ad-free subscription, you should get an ad-free experience. It’s that simple.
My new bill makes streaming platforms like RedZone honor their promises and give fans what they paid for.

In a rural community like Margaretville, getting the care you need isn’t always as simple as catching a bus or taking a short drive down the road. And when there's a medical emergency, every second matters.
That’s why I fought to bring home $600,000 for Margaretville Hospital, where we just celebrated the opening of a brand new heliport that will expand access to care throughout Delaware and Sullivan Counties. It’s no exaggeration to say that this project will save lives – and I’m so proud of how our community came together to make it happen.
Congress should be working to LOWER health care costs – not handing out tax breaks to billionaires on the backs of Upstate families. My bill restores funding for the Essential Plan and protects health coverage for thousands of our neighbors, because no one should lose their plan or pay skyrocketing premiums because of political games in DC.

What happened to “seven hours of commercial-free football”?
In Upstate New York, we believe that you should get what you paid for – but more and more, big streamers like RedZone keep moving the goalposts. My bill puts an end to this bait-and-switch because ad-free should mean ad-free. riley.house.gov/2026/10/14/r…
From ending utility hikes to stopping price gouging, I’m fighting every day to take on corporate greed and bring down costs.
In the United States, 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer during her lifetime. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, join me in honoring survivors, remembering those we’ve lost, and standing with those who are still battling the disease.
I’m proud to support legislation to make breast cancer screenings and treatment more affordable so that everyone can access this lifesaving care.
Verizon is trying to cut off landline service across Upstate New York. But for a senior living alone, a family in a rural town, or anyone facing an emergency, reliable phone service isn't a luxury - it's a lifeline.
No one should have to pay higher bills, install costly equipment, or worry about how they'll contact 911 in an emergency. If you agree, you can let the FCC, which oversees Verizon, know by submitting a public comment about the proposed shutoffs: bit.ly/4ijBVCw
It’s always an honor to celebrate our community’s proud Italian heritage! From securing funding to revitalize Endicott’s North Side to sponsoring legislation for a National Museum of Italian-American History and Culture, I’ll always stand up for the history and families that built our region.
Thanks to everyone who made today’s Columbus Day Parade in Binghamton such a success!
