I sure enjoyed spending time today at Maple Ridge Elementary with the principal and all the teachers, techs, paraprofessionals, custodians, lunch workers, secretaries and librarian. It was my privilege to bring them lunch and express appreciation for their daily hard work.

This week I had the opportunity to spend time in Southeastern Utah seeing energy projects underway at San Rafael Energy Lab, Valar Atomics, and in our mining industry. I also saw positive outcomes of recent legislation to increase Utah’s energy production capacity.

States are the laboratories of democracy and I’ve seen them in action during the month of July as I’ve attended 3 conferences (NCSL, ALEC and CSG West) where I joined with legislators from all 50 states to discuss issues and find solutions.

Exciting local news today. The new Dry Creek Parkway exit on I-15 between Springville and Spanish Fork is now open. I drove it on my commute home, and it was great. This new East-West corridor will help ease congestion in Springville, Mapleton, and Spanish Fork.

Utah has incredible teachers--today thousands joined together at the Show Up For Teachers conference. I’m grateful for the teachers who have helped me, my children, and our local communities. Thank you Utah’s First Lady Abby Cox for your leadership in convening this annual event.
