Horse racing is a significant, multimillion-dollar industry here in Pennsylvania. In order to improve accountability of the racing industry, we must modernize fingerprinting and background check requirements to maintain the integrity of the sport.

Horse racing is a multi-million-dollar industry here in PA and we must improve accountability within it. I'm proud that my bill to modernize fingerprinting and background check requirements for horse racing in PA to meet FBI requirements has passed the PA House.

Both PATH and Jeanes help Northeast Philadelphians daily. This funding will allow both entities to continue their crucial work for our neighborhood. I am beyond proud to have secured funding for these two projects that will greatly benefit our community.

Not only is Jalen Hurts an outstanding leader at the Linc on Sundays, but he’s a true pillar in our community. I am grateful that he is donating $600,000 to install AC units at Northeast High School, making the learning environment safer for all students! pahouse.com/dougherty/InTheN…

It was such an honor to be a part of the historic ceremonial #PAHouse session at Congress Hall in Philadelphia. There's no better place to be than on the Independence Mall to celebrate our democracy and the 250th anniversary of the United States of America!

The Home Run Derby was in our city last night….although Schwarber didn’t win.    We, in the House of Representatives and the Governor’s office, hit a home run with this budget.

We discussed how crucial this legislation is for not only our Commonwealth, but Northeast Philadelphia.   I cannot thank the Governor enough for his leadership and getting this budget across the finish line.

Today, I had the opportunity to thank and talk with our Governor @GovernorShapiro about the cost of living adjustments (COLA) that he signed into law for our retired police officers, fire fighters, and teachers.

I’m proud to vote for a budget that invests in Northeast Philadelphia, without raising taxes on our hardworking community!

It wasn’t easy, but we now have #PABudget! Thank you to all my colleagues & especially our staff for working hard to bring a cost-of-living increase to our retired police officers, firefighters, and teachers, increase education funding & give working families the help they need.

The heartbreaking loss of UPenn student, Sarah Katz, in 2022, should be a wake-up call.  Highly caffeinated drinks, without notice, can be dangerous. My bill is simply calling for restaurants to label their menus and inform individuals on which drinks are high in caffeine.

Integrity in PA's horse racing industry matters. I'm proud to champion legislation that would strengthen background checks & fingerprinting for racing licenses — requested by the FBI & supported by our administration. Learn more: repdougherty.com

I was honored to present a check to the Fox Chase Civic Association for improvements to Lions Park & the surrounding area in NE Philadelphia. This grant money will be used to put American flags along Oxford Ave. & improve Lions Park by rebuilding the gazebo and fixing the clock.
