If only there was someone to cover what Northfield softball did this week. Ah, well, nevertheless Congrats Norse on a hell of a week and a sectional title.

This is also probably the last time I’ll be logging onto this account. Moving in a few weeks. You can follow me @JacobRude. Or don’t. It won’t hurt my feelings.

Received word today that I will not be going back to the Plain Dealer. Not a surprise but an odd and weird way to end my time with the paper, though not much is normal in the current world. So allow me some time to say a couple things

As for me, I’ll be fine. I don’t know what the next stop is yet but I know I’ll always be exactly where I’m supposed to be. Maybe I’ll stop by at a sporting event or two this year as a spectator. Maybe I’ll yell at the refs just to see what it’s like for once.

No person helped me get a grasp on sports in the county more than Gary. I can’t count the amount of questions I bugged him with over the last five years. Won’t be the same not having him on the sidelines going forward. Thanks for all the help and enjoy the fishing and hunting!

I announced yesterday on the radio that I have officially retired. Thank you everyone for the amazing support through the years. The website is not dead however. More details coming!!

Going to be on the radio with @Bobstambaze this evening from 5-6 pm on 105.9. You're literally not doing anything so you have no excuse not to listen. Just stop binging Tiger King or Grey's Anatomy or The Office for a bit.

Well, some not fun news. I was laid off today from the Plain Dealer today due to the COVID-19 situation. Not sure when or if I'll be back with the company

Not exactly how I planned on going out and it may not be permanent. But I won't be around much for the coming months as a result while this coronavirus situation plays out.

Blown away by all of you that have reached out or replied to this with your kind words. You all are amazing people. Like I said, I’m not sure what the future will hold. If you want to keep up with me, feel free to follow my personal account @JacobRude

64 IHSAA schools ended their seasons with victories. Usually that number is 4.

At Tuesday's North Miami School Board Meeting, the board approved Ed Contreras' resignation as Athletic Director at the high school. Contreras will continue in the role through the summer before transitioning into teaching science full time at the school.

@JohnRHarrell when's the last time there was no tournament to end a boys' basketball season?

The boys' basketball state tournament comes to an end. Unfortunate, but not a surprise.

And to think, a little more than a week ago, everything was going on as normal with this tournament. How quickly life has changed in seven days.
