I seem to recall the EFF fighting against the VAT increase, pushing to end data expiry from telecommunications providers, tabling the Insourcing Bill, and tabling the Student Debt Cancellation Bill—all since the 2024 elections . an observation about south african society is how deeply some people still associate whiteness w competence and institutional credibility. there’s an assumption that if a white person is behind a company, an organisation or an idea, it must automatically be more efficient or more likely to succeed. i think this also helps explain the persistence of apartheid nostalgia and historical revisionism.
