The Colorado River crisis will be a defining moment in US history. The river supplies 40 million people; Mead and Powell, two of the nation’s largest reservoirs, are at record lows.
Filling them near full would take ~8 consecutive very wet winters, a statistical impossibility.

Lambs grazing under an Oregon solar farm had 38 percent less grass in front of them than lambs in the open field alongside, and they put on the same weight to the gram, because shade makes a pasture grow less of everything except protein.

Meet #stinknet - a small yellow wildflower with a big impact. This invasive, #noxiousweed grows during the winter, rapidly outcompetes native wildflowers, and then dries into highly flammable fuel by summer, increasing #wildfire risk.

A bald eagle rescue story just in time for July 4! 🦅 🇺🇸
AZGFD biologists recently scaled a huge pine tree in Flagstaff, Ariz. to place a 9-week-old bald eagle with a new family after finding it with a fish hook lodged in its throat. The young eaglet survived surgery and rehab at Liberty Wildlife, but needed a new wild home.
This is a perfect example of why picking up discarded fishing lines is so important. Read more about this young bald eagle's rescue here: bit.ly/4xYjTvx.

Drylands support one-third of humanity, produce nearly half of the world's food and store vast amounts of carbon. Yet they remain overlooked in climate finance and policy.
Why does that matter, and what can be done about it?

Drylands are not wastelands.
Three billion people call drylands home. They produce 40% of the world’s food, store 30% of the planet’s carbon, and give us olive oil, cashmere, and frankincense.
As climate change intensifies, how we invest in these landscapes matters more than ever.
