Swasthi by R+A Architects in Perinthalmanna, Kerala, is a contemporary tropical home that takes the language of traditional Kerala architecture and makes it work for modern living. Sloping terracotta-tiled roofs, generous overhangs, natural materials, and shaded spaces sit on a narrow plot beside a temple. The design responds to the site, Vastu considerations, and the climate instead of ignoring them.
The result is a house that feels rooted and comfortable at the same time. It shows that regional identity does not have to be left behind for a building to feel current.
