I’m building Juttela to help people find others nearby to run with, play sports, and try new activities together. But I’m realizing that building the app is only half the journey. China’s AI boom is facing a serious reality check. $480 BILLION in market value wiped out. The AI hype is meeting the harsh reality of the market: massive expectations don’t always translate into sustainable growth. The big question is no longer just who can build AI, but who can turn it into a profitable business. Is this the beginning of an AI market correction, or just a temporary shakeout?

In 2012, @Tinder faced a difficult problem. A dating app is useless if nobody around you is using it. So instead of trying to reach everyone, Tinder started with college campuses. The team personally recruited students, organized parties, and built a network where people could discover each other. One campus at a time. That got me thinking about Juttela. We're solving a similar problem, but for a different reason. Juttela isn't about finding a date. It's about finding someone nearby to run with, play badminton, explore a place, or try something new together. Because sometimes, you don't need another match. Spent 2 hours today reaching out to friends studying at different universities, telling them about Juttela and asking if they could share it in their university groups. No marketing budget, just conversations, friends, and a lot of hope. Building the app is one challenge. Getting it into people's hands is another. Today, I Revised how Navigation Component works in Jetpack Compose! Here’s what I understood: 🔹 NavHost — Displays the current screen. 🔹 NavController — Controls navigation between screens. 🔹 NavGraph — Defines screens and their navigation paths. Learned something new today while building an email sender for Juttela Express 5 doesn’t default req.body to {} anymore. If Content-Type isn’t JSON, it’s just undefined. And Gmail won’t accept your real password over SMTP. You need an App Password. Bugs are the best teachers. #buildinpublic #indiedev

On Saturday I took Juttela offline and started distributing pamphlets locally. Honestly, I was so nervous that I couldn't explain my own product properly. Just optimized an API that was hitting MongoDB every time 10k+ users fetched the same activity list 🔥 Problem: Repeated DB reads for static data = unnecessary load + higher latency Solution: Added Redis caching (@upstash ) → First request → MongoDB → Next requests → #Redis (super fast) Result: @MongoDB stays happy, responses are instant ⚡ Caching static data is underrated.
