What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.

Shocked and bloody angry I think... it takes more than that to shake me.
I may be a woman, but I'm not the snowflake here.
Exclusive:
Nigel Farage's "physical altercation" during the State Opening of Parliament was with the Lib Dem MP Caroline Voaden - and has caused an major row between Reform and the Lib Dems.
Lib Dem sources say Voaden was left "shocked and shaken" after he "shoved" her to secure a place in the procession of MPs to the King's Speech.
Video from the Commons Chamber that day shows Farage and Voaden making their way down from their benches together.
Voaden reported the incident to the Serjeant at Arms and says Farage was asked to apologise - but hasn't.
A Reform spokesman denies any wrongdoing by Farage, saying "it was the Lib Dem MPs being aggressive towards Nigel". Lib Dems say that is "utter nonsense"
Farage said yesterday that the "physical altercation" was the reason he didn't put up a fight to be in the Chamber for the Budget after his prayer card to save a space was removed.
He said he thought that after the row with Voaden, it was "better to avoid conflict".
But in a further twist, a Commons spokesman says Farage's card was only removed because it didn't have a date stamp, which are required to reserve a spot.

We @LibDems have led calls for an emergency VAT cut to 15% for #hospitality - if done properly, this would be exceptionally good news that could help #SaveOurHighStreets
Well said @Bobby_Dean 👍
An update on maternity services at St Helier Hospital 👇
After speaking to staff and residents and reading the independent reports, I’m clear that we need to find a way to keep these vital services on site while repairs to the pipework take place.
One particularly concerning thing I’ve heard is that, if neonatal services were moved from St Helier to other hospitals, those hospitals simply would not be able to cope.
I’ll be making the case to the NHS Trust and the Health Minister to keep services at St Helier.

A few weeks ago, I stepped in to stop a racially motivated assault.
It reminded me of the challenges facing those policing our capital – all whilst the Met face a real-terms funding cut of a third since 2015.

As Brexit returns to the spotlight, I wanted to share my thoughts on the UK's future relationship with Europe.
Brexit has been a disaster for businesses of all sizes, including for many in Wimbledon. We must begin the difficult work of rebuilding with our nearest trading partner.

Our £14 billion emergency package, funded by taxes on unearned profits of big banks and energy operator monopolies, would cut energy, transport, and hospitality costs, putting money back in people's pockets to help with living costs and little extras.

🧵 Trump’s war - which was cheered on by the Conservatives and Reform - continues to drive up everyday costs, leaving households having to tighten their belts once again.
At next week's Budget the Labour government must make good on their promise to give people breathing space.

Brexit has weakened Britain economically and politically.
Businesses are drowning in red tape, and young people are being denied opportunities across Europe.
The Liberal Democrats have a clear roadmap to rebuild ties with the EU. It is time to repair the damage of Brexit.

I welcome the Prime Minister’s admission that the Brexit deal is a disaster for our economy, but the real test is: will he drop Labour's red lines that stop us fixing it? Today he says no – so we have more work to do!

Badenoch has spent half her conference making unfunded promises, and half lecturing the country on fiscal responsibility.
We’re all still paying the price for Conservative financial mismanagement. Liberal Democrats will act as the firewall stopping her handing No 10 to Farage.

Yet again, schools left high & dry. Talk to any headteacher or school governor. They'll tell you there's nothing left to cut or "efficiency" to find.
Our children are paying the price for unfunded promises: teaching budgets and extracurriculars slashed.
