I see the sun isn’t a problem this time in Winnipeg for the outdoor game. 10 years ago was a long day, but a memorable day.
Scary how the fellas are departing.
The NHL Alumni Association is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Lyle Odelein.
Lyle was one of those people who left an impression wherever he went. A fierce competitor on the ice and a loyal teammate and friend away from it, he brought toughness, heart, humour and an unmistakable passion to everything he did.
Over more than 1,000 NHL games, Lyle earned the respect of teammates and opponents alike. But his story went far beyond hockey.
Following his playing career, Lyle embraced life as a devoted family man and businessman. When faced with an extraordinary health battle in 2018, one that included a coma, paralysis, organ transplants and a long rehabilitation, he showed the same determination and fighting spirit that had defined him throughout his life. His remarkable recovery was a testament to his resilience, courage and appreciation for life.
Those who knew Lyle will remember much more than the player. They’ll remember the friend, the stories and laughs, his strength and loyalty, and someone who genuinely valued the people around him.
Lyle will always be part of our Alumni family, and he will be deeply missed.
Our hearts are with his family, friends, former teammates and everyone whose life was touched by him.
Rest in peace, Odie. Your fight, your heart and your friendship will never be forgotten.
Sass Jordan gone at 63. Always loved her music. My brother, who is an excellent musician, was playing in another band when they toured with Sass in 1999.
Airport in Calgary. Person next to me orders steak and eggs $30. Requests the steak cut up and one egg deep fried (which the server says they can’t do.). It’s not 8 am yet. #imconfused #deepfriedegg.
Calgary Flames have acknowledged the passing of legendary Flames voice Peter Maher. Just had Maher on yesterday on @SportsOn770. Gave us one last “yeah baby”.
Big news in Calgary. Flames have signed a 5-yr deal with @QRcalgary. Other details are fluid but look for a 2hr Flames Now show, pre-game and postgame along with play-by-play coverage. I'm filling in at 3 on QR and we'll talk about today's news.
Sorry to hear of the passing of Cliff Fletcher. Such a long hockey career in Atlanta, Calgary, Toronto and on the international stage. Condolences to his son Chuck, his daughter Kristy, son-in-law Jim, and their families.
5-alarm grass fire going on in Toronto right now.
.@CraigJButton summed a lot of what I heard privately on reaction to John Chayka and Mats Sundin heading #Leafs hockey ops.
"Confounding."
"Perplexed."
"No record of accomplishment. None."
Feels like Sundin was a human shield on Monday.
