Is the LDS Church helping finance mosques in Utah?
According to a February 2025 Taylorsville Journal report about the restoration of the Al-Rasool Islamic Center, a former LDS meetinghouse now used as a mosque:
“They’ve asked me not to reveal the specific amounts, but we’ve received substantial donations from the Semnani Family Foundation (semnanifamilyfoundation.org) and the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation (gsecclesfoundation.org),” Mietchen said. “The (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) has also made a significant donation.”
How much did the LDS Church contribute? Which funds were used? And has the Church helped finance other mosque projects in Utah?
